After a series catastrophes, Keanu Reeves lived a nomadic life for the past two decades, staying in hotels and remaining unmarried.

But, for the first time in decades, Keanu, 55, gave a strong statement that his single days are finally over as he walked the LACMA Art + Film Gala By Gucci red carpet with a girlfriend.

Following the terrible death of his pregnant daughter Ava and former-fiance Jennifer Syme, the 55-year-old lived out of a suitcase and in hotel rooms for over two decades.

However, Symes’ and their daughter’s deaths were not the only times the actor was bereaved.

In 1991, tragedy hit the Reeves family when Keanu’s sister Kim was diagnosed with leukemia. Keanu is said to have spent a lot of time at his sister’s side from her illness until her remission in 1999.

“When she was in the hospital he was there with her all the time, sitting at her bedside, holding her hand. Sometimes, it’s almost like he doesn’t trust himself to have a relationship with anyone,” a close friend said at the time to People.

Keanu met Jennifer Syme at a party for his band Dogstar in 1998, and the two soon fell in love. The couple got engaged, and Jennifer disclosed she was expecting a daughter called Ava. She did, however, give birth to a stillborn child in 1999. Their relationship suffered a great deal as a result of their child’s death, and they eventually broke up just weeks afterwards.

They were said to be trying to sort things out right before her untimely death in 2001 at the age of 28.

Jennifer died in a vehicle accident while attending a party at Marilyn Manson’s residence. A bereaved Keanu carried her casket as she was put to rest near their daughter.

Following those catastrophes, the actor claimed in 2010 that he began living out of hotels, with all of his belongings finally fitting into just one bag.

“Sounds quite bohemian and gypsy-like, doesn’t it?” he joked. “I’m down to one bag now, and smaller rooms in hotels.”

According to a housekeeper at one of the hotels where he stayed, the celebrity seldom exited his room and preferred to watch Spongebob Squarepants on repeat.

Those days, however, appear to be over, with Keanu finally purchasing a home and settling down in Hollywood Hills, as well as finding love with new girlfriend Alexandra Grant.
