Did Keanu Reeves Steal a Camera From the Paparazzi and Run away?

A picture that claims to show US star Keanu Reeves snatching a camera from photographers has been posted hundreds of times on Facebook.

THE FACTS: The shot was first released as part of a story on the filming of “Generation Um” in Manhattan by Splash News, an entertainment news and photography firm. Junez Ali, a senior account executive at Splash News, told The Associated Press that the shot was part of a series taken during filming the indie film. Reeves is seen stealing a video camera from a bunch of cowboys and fleeing with it.

On March 6, 2019, this photo was first shared on Facebook. “He stole the paparazzi’s camera,” the caption reads.

The photograph has also been posted among other Reeves photos.

The same photo was published by the British newspaper the Daily Mail on October 7, 2010, according to a reverse image search.

On July 12, 2012, picture agency Alamy published a similar shot of Reeves running with the camera on set.

Reeves’ character in “Generation Um” impulsively steals a video camera and uses it to film a day with two pals as they divulge old secrets.
