Kristen Stewart has said that her shyness and inability to be “the center of attention” at the start of her acting career may have given people the wrong impression of her.

During her tenure on the Twilight film trilogy, the actress was said to have a moody and reclusive demeanor.

“I think I’ve grown out of this, but I used to be really frustrated that because I didn’t willingly jump into being the center of a certain amount of attention, it seemed like I was an a**hole,” Kristen revealed for her Vanity Fair cover story in September 2019. Kristen had previously had parts in big budget films like Zathura: A Space Adventure and Into the Wild, but her portrayal as Bella Swan gave her a household name.

‘I am in no way rebellious. I am in no way contrarian. I just want people to like me,’ she continued.

Since the end of the Twilight Saga in 2012, the actress has taken on more serious roles. She received positive feedback for her work in the 2016 psychological thriller Personal Shopper and Still Alice.

Kristen found her voice in these smaller projects, telling Vanity Fair, “It gave me a chance to not weigh something down. It was so much bigger than me. My baggage was so minuscule in comparison to what [Reichardt’s and Assayas’s] story lines are, as filmmakers. I was finally given a chance to be looked at, not as this thing in this celebrity-obsessed culture that was like, ‘Oh, that’s the girl from Twilight.’”

Stewart, who is now dating model Stella Maxwell, is well-known for leading a very private life. She has, however, previously acknowledged how stardom during the Twilight era affected her.

Kristen also revealed something about her relationships in the interview, saying that she only dates individuals that ‘complement’ her.

The 29-year-old actress said that she only enters into relationships with those that bring out her best qualities and who complement her life.

‘I only date people who complement me,’ she told the magazine.

Although she is not a rebel, the Charlie’s Angel actress does have something unusual about her, as she claims to frequently communicate with spirits, especially when she is in a ‘weird small town.’

“I talk to [ghosts],” she went on. “If I’m in a weird, small town, making a movie, and I’m in a strange apartment, I will literally be like, ‘No, please, I cannot deal. Anyone else, but it cannot be me.’

“Who knows what ghosts are, but there is an energy that I’m really sensitive to. Not just with ghosts, but with people. People stain rooms all the time.”

Kristen is making a comeback in mainstream cinema, co-starring in the Charlie’s Angels revival with Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska, directed by Elizabeth Banks! The action film will be released on November 15, and Kristen’s ex and another vampire actor are both delighted to see her in this high-profile role. “Rob is very excited for Kristen,” a source close to the High Life actress told HollywoodLife. “He’s hearing good things about the movie and will for sure watch it.
