Henry Cavill, the actor known for his role as Superman in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” recently opened up about his experience shooting the film with his co-star, Ben Affleck.
According to Cavill, the difference in their physiques initially intimidated him.
In an interview, Cavill revealed that he was taken aback by Affleck’s impressive physique and joked that it gave him the desire to step up his own fitness game.
“What struck me first was how funny he was, but man was he ripped as well. I’ve never been the type of guy to get involved in any sort of macho one-upmanship, but I admit I was more than a bit intimidated, and it gave me the desire to push it a bit more, because Ben is really built,” said Cavill.
The actor continued by stating that Affleck’s size and presence on set motivated him to hit the gym.
“The guy is huge. I’m puny by comparison. He is much bigger than I expected, this huge presence and vast physicality.
“I had to step it up.
“When you see this mountain of a man walking around set, you think, ‘I’ve got to get to the gym… yesterday.
Despite the initial intimidation, both actors delivered impressive performances as their respective superheroes.
The film received mixed reviews, with some debates surrounding the early end to the fight between Superman and Batman.
However, the two actors were eventually praised for their performances in later DCU projects.
As for Cavill, 2023 seems to be his year to shine.
The actor has been picked up for multiple movies, including spy-thrillers, and will be working with notable directors such as Guy Ritchie and Matthew Vaughn.
He also has his own “Warhammer 40,000″ project in the works.
When it comes to height, Cavill stands at 6’1”, only 3 inches shorter than Affleck. Despite his impressive physique, it’s incredible to think that he was intimidated by his co-star.
With his acting talent and dedication to fitness, Cavill is sure to have a successful year ahead.
