Ariana Grande posted a four-minute video on Thursday that included a meandering apology “for the whole donut fiasco” captured on a surveillance camera last weekend.

Grande previously made news after being caught on camera spitting on and licking doughnuts at a Southern California bakery. Grande was also heard saying, “I hate Americans. I hate America” after an employee brought out a tray of large doughnuts.

Grande, who was born in Boca Raton, Florida, stated on Instagram that she is “EXTREMELY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN” and that her words were misinterpreted. She did, however, apologize for her choice of words and promise to “strive to be better.”

“I wanted to make a video to apologize again for the whole doughnut fiasco and craziness,” Grande says in a new apology video posted on YouTube. “I feel like the apology that I posted, I kind of missed my opportunity to actually sincerely apologize and express how I was feeling because I was too busy preaching about my issues with the food industry, which is not I feel like relative…. So here I am, apologizing again. I was trying to get you to understand where I was coming from when I said what I said. But that’s not important and I’d rather just apologize. So I feel like now is my chance.”

“Seeing a video of yourself behaving poorly, that you have no idea was taken, is such a rude awakening, that you don’t know what to do — I was so disgusted with myself,” she added.

“I’m not here to justify my behavior or make any excuses, because I can’t. I’m just here to apologize, and tell you that I love you, and I appreciate being able to talk to you like this.

“I’m 22 years old,” she adds. “I’m human. I still got a lot to learn. And I make mistakes and that’s how I’m going to learn… That’s how we grow, you know? That’s how we get better. ”

With puffy cheeks after having her wisdom teeth removed, she says, “I feel like I let you all down, which sucks”.

Grande just stated that she was “very upset” about Americans’ eating habits and “frustrated” by kid obesity statistics.

Meanwhile, police in Lake Elsinore, California, where the doughnut shop is situated, said they are investigating the leaked footage alongside public health experts.

“It is not clear at this time if the affected donuts were disposed of or sold to another patron,” police said in a statement.

Grande did not buy any of the doughnuts she touched with her mouth, according to cashier Mayra Solis, who was working at the bakery. She told the Associated Press, “She was really rude.”

MLB Communications announced the day after the video was posted that Grande has been withdrawn as the headliner for the MLB All-Star game due to “health issues.” Demi Lovato will take her place. Grande said in her statement that she underwent “emergency oral surgery.”

On Friday, the hashtag #WeForgiveYouAriana began trending, however not everyone believed that she should be forgiven.
