The Voice on NBC has a new superstar judge! Ariana Grande revealed today that she will join Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton on the season 21 panel. Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Miley Cyrus, and Nick Jonas are among the many talented vocalists that have been on the show. Grande said on Instagram, “surprise !!! I am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson @johnlegend @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice ! @nickjonas we will miss you.”

She’ll be taking over for Nick Jonas, who is currently acting as a judge on The Voice.

“I’m so honored and excited to join The Voice family!” Grande said in a statement. “I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time. I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists and help to take their craft to the next level.”

An insider told Page Six that, while she is replacing Jonas, he “isn’t leaving for good.”

“Nick will remain on rotation with other stars that have appeared on the show,” a source told Page Six. “The chances are he will be back soon.”

Grande announced the news in a style this morning with a bold statement look. Grande wore a Lanvin leopard-print dress, a huge belt cinched at the waist, and matching printed purse and shoes while sitting in one of the show’s renowned swivel chairs. It’s typical for judges on The Voice to dress up for their appearances on stage—Stefani and Aguilera, in particular, have worn bright, maximalist ensembles—and Grande will undoubtedly do the same during her time on the program. Grande has already shown that she can rock sky-high heels again this week, so her TV-worthy outfits will be worth watching. She’s obviously off to a good start.

Naturally, fans of the “34+35” singer are ecstatic with the news. “Imagine you’re on stage. Singing at the voice. Ariana is the FIRST person to turn her chair for you. HOLY SHIT,” one fan tweeted.

“OMG Ariana’s rly gonna be a judge on the voice wtf. What beautiful news,” posted another alongside several crying emoji. Meanwhile, a third joked, “I’m crying bc ariana pressing the buzzer for everyone bc she gonna feel bad.”

“As an undeniable force in pop music, Ariana’s inimitable success in the music industry is extraordinary. We were thrilled to learn that she is a true fan of The Voice and know that this enthusiasm will add to her impact as a dynamic coach. Ariana is a visionary with over a decade of experience in the music industry. Her unmatched vocal skills, creativity and unique expertise on all facets of the industry will make her an invaluable coach to the next generation of artists,” Jenny Groom, Executive Vice President of Unscripted Content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in a statement.

Grande’s announcement could not have come at a better time. Devan Blake Jones and Dana Monique, Team Jonas contestants, recently sang a version of Grande and Justin Bieber’s smash song “Stuck with U” on The Voice.

It’s a mystery how Ariana Grande managed to fit this into her schedule. Positions, the 27-year-sixth old’s studio album, was released in October and has already produced two major hits: the title track and “34+35.” It’s uncertain whether a tour will take place because of the ongoing coronavirus limitations.

Blake, Kelly, and John will be on their sixth season of The Voice together, while Nick and Gwen Stefani have rotated as the fourth coach in recent seasons. Kelly told ET last year that she was thrilled to have Gwen return and that she likes coaching with another female artist.

“I love having another female [on the panel],” she shared. “I’ve done it with all the guys, and it’s cool… but I like having the female energy to kind of bounce off of. I’m a girls’ girl. I have a lot of girlfriends, so I’m welcoming of that.”
