Anne Hathaway met her husband, Adam Shulman, during a difficult time in her life.

She had just gone through a very public breakup with Italian businessman Raffaello Follieri, who was later convicted of fraud and sentenced to four and a half years in prison.

Hathaway’s trust had been betrayed, and her heart was broken.

Despite this, she did not let the experience taint her outlook on love.

Hathaway kept all her press commitments and displayed a healthy approach to heartbreak.

She honed in on what she really wanted out of a relationship.

“The goal is to find someone you can be yourself around, who makes you laugh, who challenges you in a good way, and where you just spark off each other,” Hathaway said.

Hathaway’s mystery man was Adam Shulman, an actor, producer, and jewelry designer.

They met in 2008 through friends, and their connection “was pretty instant”.

Six weeks later, Hathaway realized that Shulman did not have a girlfriend and asked him to go to a screening of her movie, Rachel Getting Married.

He agreed, and the two hit it off.

Shulman is perhaps better known as a jewelry designer than as an actor.

He partnered with designer Heidi Nahser Fink in 2011 to found the jewelry brand, James Banks. Shulman also designed Hathaway’s engagement ring with the help of diamond jewelry company Kwiat and owner Greg Kwiat.

Despite lingering apprehensions, Hathaway felt it was right to pursue a relationship with Shulman.

“I knew from the second I met him that he was the love of my life,” she said.

And yet, she felt so strongly about him that she recalled telling their mutual friend:

The couple had an intimate wedding in September 2012 and are happiest doing “normal” things.

As long as they’re doing them together.

“We have house parties and dinner parties and just hang out […] He’s all the things you want a partner to be,” Hathaway said.

In April 2016, the couple had their first child, son Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman.

They welcomed his baby brother, Jack, in 2020. During her second pregnancy, Hathaway revealed their journey to parenthood wasn’t easy.

“For everyone going through infertility and conception hell, please know it was not a straight line to either of my pregnancies,” she wrote on Instagram.

The best lesson we can all learn from Anne Hathaway is the way she overcame her disastrous breakup with Raffaello Follieri in such a healthy way.

Rather than allowing the experience to taint her outlook on love, she chose not to generalize and listened to her heart instead.

When she met Adam Shulman, the timing wasn’t perfect and she could have quickly written him off as being a potential foe to her already broken heart, but she chose to trust that what she felt was special and worth pursuing.

By listening to her instinct, taking a leap of faith, and being honest (both with herself and with Shulman), she was able to find the love she deserved all along.

Through her experiences, Hathaway learned that “the worst thing that happens to you can be the best thing for you, if you don’t let it get the best of you”.

She exhibited a healthy approach to heartbreak and did not let it affect her professional life.

Hathaway kept all of her press commitments, including hosting Saturday Night Live in October 2008, just weeks after her split from Follieri.

Despite being in the public eye, Hathaway values normalcy and finds joy in spending time with her family.

She and Shulman have been together for over a decade and their relationship is built on honesty and trust.

Their journey to parenthood was not easy, but Hathaway has been open about her struggles with infertility and conception.

Her honesty and vulnerability have resonated with many people going through similar experiences.

Through it all, Hathaway has remained grounded and focused on what truly matters in life: love, family, and being true to oneself.

Her ability to overcome adversity and find happiness in the midst of difficult times is an inspiration to many.

In a 2013 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Hathaway said, “I believe in love in all its forms.

I believe in being present for the people you love. I believe in helping people who need it.

I believe in treating people with respect and kindness.”

Hathaway’s approach to life and love is a reminder to always trust your instincts and not let past experiences define your future.

As she once said, “People are good and you are a good person, because I feel it.

And so I am not in a good place right now, but I’m going with this.”

Through her openness and honesty, Hathaway has inspired many people to be true to themselves and follow their hearts.

Her journey to finding love and starting a family is a testament to the power of perseverance and hope.

In the end, Anne Hathaway’s story is a reminder that love is worth fighting for, even in the face of adversity.

Her journey from heartbreak to happiness is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of love to heal and inspire.
