Princess Lilibet’s second birthday came and went, but the royal family failed to acknowledge it publicly.

This marks a departure from last year when Queen Elizabeth II took to social media to wish her great-granddaughter a happy 1st birthday.

However, this year, no official messages were posted on the royal family’s social media channels.

According to an OK!

Magazine UK source, King Charles III and Queen Camilla “don’t mark the birthdays of non-working members.”

Nevertheless, the source added that the royal couple wished Lilibet a happy birthday but chose not to make it public.

This change in protocol contrasts with how the royal family celebrated Lilibet’s first birthday.

In 2022, the Queen wished her great-granddaughter a happy birthday via her official social media account.

Other members of the royal family also joined in, with Prince Charles, Prince William, and Kate Middleton all posting messages for the little princess.

Despite the lack of public acknowledgment from the royal family this year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their daughter’s big day.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly had an “all-American affair” in California, where the family currently resides.

It seems that Charles has not completely forgotten about his granddaughter’s special day, though.

Another insider revealed to New Idea that the King planned on sending Lilibet a custom-made cubby house as a birthday present.

Lilibet was born in California after Harry and Meghan resigned from their royal duties in 2020.

Meanwhile, Archie, the couple’s firstborn, celebrated his fourth birthday on the same day as Charles’ coronation ceremony on May 6.

While Markle stayed at home in California to celebrate Archie’s birthday, Harry traveled alone to London for his father’s historic day before quickly returning to the US to be with his family for the celebrations.

Harry and Meghan have had a troubled relationship with the royal family since stepping down from their roles as senior royals and moving to California.

The couple has given several interviews where they openly criticized the monarchy.

Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” also caused controversy in the royal family.

Representatives for Harry and Meghan have not commented on the lack of public birthday wishes from the royal family.

However, it is evident that the Sussexes celebrated their daughter’s milestone, even if the rest of the royal family chose not to acknowledge it publicly.
