Why Ryan Gosling Dropped Out Of School

Ryan Gosling is a well-known actor in Hollywood, but not many people know that he had a difficult time in school.

In an interview with Maclean’s, Gosling revealed that when he was in first grade, he was suspended from school after bringing steak knives from home and throwing them at other students during recess.

Despite this incident, Gosling’s struggles in school may not have been the only reason he decided to drop out.

The actor was a child star, appearing on the popular show “The All-New Mickey Mouse Club” alongside other young talents such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

However, Gosling admitted in an interview with Interview Magazine that he did not feel he was as talented as some of the other kids on the show.

“It was kind of depressing because when I got there, they realized that I wasn’t really up to snuff in comparison with what some of the other kids were able to do,” he said.

Gosling’s mother chose to homeschool him, but he later returned to school before being homeschooled again during his time on “The All-New Mickey Mouse Club.”

When he landed the role on the TV series “Young Hercules,” Gosling made the decision to officially drop out and focus on acting full-time.

Gosling’s choice to pursue acting paid off, as he has since become a successful and well-known actor in Hollywood.

Some of his notable film roles include “Remember the Titans,” “Murder by Numbers,” “Crazy, Stupid Love,” “Blue Valentine,” and “La La Land,” which earned him a Golden Globe award and an Academy Award nomination.

In addition to his acting career, Gosling has also had a successful personal life. He shares two daughters, Amanda and Esmeralda, with his partner and former co-star Eva Mendes.

Being a father has apparently changed Gosling’s perspective on life, as he told GQ in early 2022, “Time, in general, is something I think about a lot now. My kids are growing up so fast I need to keep an eye on the clock in a way I never used to.”

If his daughters ever struggle with their own education, Gosling would likely be able to offer them valuable advice based on his own experiences.

He is not the only Hollywood star to have dropped out of school at a young age, as other famous actors such as Katy Perry, Robert Downey Jr., Johnny Depp, Keanu Reeves, Jim Carrey, Mark Wahlberg, Al Pacino, and Drew Barrymore also chose to pursue careers in show business over continuing their education.
