In Hollywood, where youth is valued above all else, it’s not uncommon for celebrities to turn to surgery and other cosmetic procedures to maintain their youthful appearance.
However, some stars have chosen to reject the ageism that exists in the industry and have been vocal about their decision to age gracefully.
Here are 13 celebrities who have spoken out against cosmetic surgery and why they swear they’ll never go under the knife.
Emma Thompson, now 63, is a self-described “card-carrying, kind of militant feminist about women’s bodies” who doesn’t understand why someone would want to alter their appearance with cosmetic surgery.
In a 2022 interview with The Wrap, she stated “I do honestly think the cutting of yourself off to put it in another place in order to avoid appearing to do what you’re actually doing, which is aging, which is completely natural, is a form of collective psychosis. I really do think it’s a very strange thing to do.”
Meryl Streep, 72, is a Hollywood legend who has achieved 21 Oscar nominations and 3 wins without fundamentally changing the way she looks.
