Oprah Winfrey has announced that Prince Harry’s latest TV show will premiere later this month.

After being postponed due to a mixture of Megxit and Covid constraints, it will be released on Apple TV.

When speaking on “The Drew Barrymore Show” with psychiatrist Dr. Bruce D. Perry, Winfrey, 67, addressed her joint venture with the Duke of Sussex.

“I wanna just say that Dr Perry and I have been also, for the past two years, along with Prince Harry and Apple, we’ve been working on this mental health series that’s coming out in May on Apple.” Oprah said.

She also emphasized the importance to her of using her life “in order to help people”

The show will be about “mental illness and mental wellness.” Harry has been credited as a “co-creator and executive producer” of the series, which was first revealed in April 2019.

Harry expressed his hope that the show would “save lives” by encouraging people to “open up”

“When I did your podcast two years ago the response made me realise what an impact sharing my story could have, and what an impact other stories can have for so many who are suffering silently,” Harry told the Daily Telegraph in 2019.

“If the viewers can relate to the pain and perhaps the experience, then it could save lives, as we will focus on prevention and positive outcomes.

“What I have learnt and I continue to learn in the space of mental health, mental illness and self-awareness is that all roads lead back to our mental wellbeing, how we look after ourselves and each other.”

In an Instagram message, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced that he was working on the series.

“have been developing the series for several months” they said at the time.

According to the statement: “The dynamic multi-part documentary series will focus on both mental illness and mental wellness, inspiring viewers to have an honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces, and how to equip ourselves with the tools to not simply survive, but to thrive.

“This commitment builds on The Duke of Sussex’s long-standing work on issues and initiatives regarding mental health, where he has candidly shared personal experience and advocated for those who silently suffer, empowering them to get the help and support they deserve.

“His Royal Highness has spent many years working with communities throughout the UK and young people across the Commonwealth to break the stigma surrounding mental illness and broaden the conversation of mental wellness to accelerate change for a more compassionate, connected and positive society.”

Meanwhile, Harry talked with podcast host and writer Bryony Gordon about the series’ relevance in 2019.

“If the viewers can relate to the pain and perhaps the experience, it could save lives,” Harry said at the time. “We will focus on prevention and positive outcomes.”

According to Harry, he and Winfrey have spoken with psychologists and intend to present “the facts and science” about mental health.

Oprah spoke to CBS earlier this year regarding the initiative and said: “I asked [Prince Harry] the question, ‘What do you think are the most important issues facing the world right now?’ He said that there are two.

“He said climate change and mental wellness, mental fitness and mental health. As you know, he’s spoken about his own issues and what he went through after his mother died and how being able to talk about it has benefited him.

“So it’s a passion of his and, at the end of the conversation, I said, ‘Oh, I’m going to be doing this thing with Apple’.

“‘It’s a big concern of mine too and I want to try to erase the stigma,’ and he said at the end of the conversation, ‘If there’s anything I can do to help’.”
