During an unannounced Instagram Live on Saturday night, Adele expressed her support for Britney Spears.

Adele was asked if she supported the #FreeBritney movement, a fan-driven push to grant Britney freedom from her conservatorship, which has been in place since 2008.

“Of course, I support #FreeBritney,” the 33-year-old singer said from Los Angeles. “I love Britney. I met her a couple of times.”

She added, “I absolutely adore her. [I’m] really happy for her.”

A court concluded that Jamie’s continued control of Britney’s estate was ‘untenable,’ and that his removal was in the star’s ‘best interests.’

According to ET Canada, the fan who posed the question later shared the video of Adele complimenting Britney on Twitter for others to see. The fan tweeted about the #FreeBritney campaign, saying, “I asked about it and she replied IMMEDIATELY [to] the Britney question.”

The chart-topping singer surprised fans when she began a live-stream on her Instagram page without notice, with over 100,000 people coming in to see Adele interact with her fans.

Adele began by informing followers that she had an hour of spare time before beginning an interview and chose to go on Instagram.

Britney directly nominated public accountant John Zabel to be appointed as her interim conservator, and a hearing in November will determine if the conservatorship will be removed altogether.

The decision to remove Jamie came after Britney battled for his removal and spoke out against the conservatorship, comparing it to “abuse” in a June testimony.

She said that when she was under conservatorship, she was forced to have a contraceptive IUD implanted in her body in order to prevent her from having another kid.

Britney has generally been silent about the conservatorship for the previous 13 years, but she spoke out during a hearing earlier this year, calling the arrangement “abusive” and later asked for her father to be prosecuted with conservatorship abuse.

Adele was also quizzed about her favorite 2021 album, her current watchlist, and whether or not she is a Marvel fan. The singer responded to all of them and even revealed some of her favorite musicians.

Her favorite album of the year 2021? “Certified Lover Boy” by Drak.e Is she a Marvel fan? “Not my vibe.” What is she watching right? “Lots of Ted Lasso.”  What other musicians does she enjoy (apart from Beyonce)? Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, and Lana Del Rey.

During the live stream, the Someone Like You singer performed the first 40 seconds of her new single Easy On Me (despite fears that she’d “get in trouble” with her label for previewing the song).

When asked what inspired her new album, Adele said, ‘Divorce, baby.’ Divorce.’

She divorced ex-husband Simon Konecki, with whom she has an eight-year-old son Angelo, in 2018.

The album will be Adele’s first in six years; her previous release was her third studio album 25, which was released in 2015 and contained singles such as Hello, When We Were Young, and All I Ask.

In an interview with the legendary fashion newspaper, the singing talent, who made history by covering both British and US Vogue, spoke out about their separation.

Adele said that the couple didn’t married until 2018 and separated the same year, claiming she ‘left’ her ex-partner and would have been ‘miserable’ if she hadn’t put herself first.

The former couple announced their divorce in April 2019, with Adele submitting court proceedings five months later.

‘When I was 30, my entire life fell apart and I had no warning of it. It just wasn’t right for me anymore. I didn’t want to end up like a lot of other people I knew,’ she revealed

‘It wasn’t miserable miserable, but I would have been miserable had I not put myself first. But, yeah, nothing bad happened or anything like that.’

‘We’ve been trained as women to keep trying, even by the movies we watched when we were little. At the time it broke my heart, but I actually find it so interesting now… how we’re told to suck it up.’
