Jason Alexander, who was married to Britney Spears for 55 hours in January 2004, claims he didn’t want their relationship to end — and that her staff prevented it from succeeding.

Britney Spears’ love life was a popular topic in the news in the early 2000s. She was involved in a number of high-profile affairs, including an unfortunate wedding to childhood friend Jason Alexander.

Alexander, who was married to the Toxic singer, was forced to sign legal paperwork under the guise that they would remain together and finally marry in the ‘right way’ in the future.

Now, the former college football player, who grew up with Britney in Kentwood, Louisiana, is speaking out — and he blames the team that worked with Britney at the time for their breakup.

Speaking On the Tuesday, July 13, episode of the “Toxic: The Britney Spears Story” podcast he said: “They told me if I would sign the contracts — the annulment — they would let me and Britney continue our relationship, and if we felt the same way in six months they would give us a proper marriage,” he claimed, adding that he stayed in touch with the “Lucky” songstress after their marriage was dissolved.

“So I had no reason to believe otherwise,” he continued. “I thought that’s what the truth was. They were allowing Britney and I to still have phone communication. So we were talking every day and I still believed the story I was told, that they were going to let us continue to talk and then we would have this marriage … in the future if we felt the same way.”

Alexander said that Spears’ phone number had stopped functioning after one month. “Literally the day after, like, the 30 days was up, I remember trying to call the number I had for Britney and it was like, ‘Beep, beep, beep [imitating a disconnected sound],’” he said. “I’m like, ‘F—k, they got me! Motherf–ker!’ So, that was it.”

Even when Spears became famous, she and Alexander remained in touch. He even admitted to ABC News in 2012 that they were “friends with benefits” and that he was “kind of like the guy ‘behind the scenes’ no one knew about.”

Jason previously spoke out against Britney’s conservatorship after her shocking court evidence in June, in which she complained about the ‘abusive’ arrangement that left her miserable.

Britney has been in conservatorship since 2008, which means that her financial and personal life decisions are made by others, mainly her father, Jamie Spears, and a co-conservator called Jodi Montgomery.

Alexander told Us Weekly last year that he and the Grammy winner had been in touch after their divorce.

“We stay in contact pretty regularly in the last few months,” he claimed in August 2020, while attending a #FreeBritney demonstration in Los Angeles. “Last night via text message [was] probably the last time.”

In addition, Alexander joined a #FreeBritney demonstration in Los Angeles.

The Twitter account @FreeBritneyLive claimed to have obtained an exclusive statement from Jason, in which he purportedly stated that Britney’s evidence ‘didn’t even scratch the surface’ of the abuse that has occurred over the years.

In the communication, the individual claiming to be Jason stated that he was ‘forced to sign an NDA but cannot in good faith stay silent about the things I saw happening.’

The message reads: ‘Even back in the day we all saw signs of Jamie’s greed. He had his daughter on a tight chain then just like he does now.’

‘I don’t want to get into it too much because it ain’t my story to be telling but when Britney does finally do any interview or write a book or whatever she chooses to do if she chooses to do that, I can say with fact the things she reveals will be bone chilling to the core.

‘Her testimony last week doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of everything she’s been had to endure and it goes beyond the 13 year conservatorship,’ it went on.’
