Recently, a new trend has evolved in which decades-old statements by celebrities resurface and cause havoc for the individual. Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen, who is receiving a lot of ire from DC fans over comments she made about Catwoman more than 10 years ago.

In the resufcaed interview, the WandaVision star expresses her opinion that no one could ever play Catwoman better than Michelle Pfeiffer. Of course, the latest teaser for The Batman was out this past weekend, and folks are already fascinated with Zoe Kravitz’s Selina Kyle, and many of them wouldn’t take Olsen’s criticism lying down.

Some fans even brought up her previous racism allegations. It’s reasonable to conclude that Olsen alienated a lot of people with her not-so-controversial comment. Take a look at some of the reactions below:

“If she’s the only one why is she the most inaccurate one?” one person wondered.

“So she hates niggers is what she’s saying 🥴,” another person wrote.

“Ian has birdseye brainrot (derogatory) (@616IanWho)” wrote a third.

Many tweets stated that Elizabeth Olsen lacked the authority to speak on the subject of Catwoman.

Another person stated: “Why the marvel lady speaking ? she isn’t even in the dceu why does her opinion matter 😭

“Olsen is NOT about to make me hate Pfeiffer. Just shut up for ONCE,” wrote another one.

These replies may go on for days, and certainly, there are several flaws in them. First and foremost, her statement and her perspective are almost a decade old. Second, Pfeiffer is usually recognized as one of the greatest actresses to don the outfit. Third, Zoe Kravitz is hardly the first lady of color to wear claws. Eartha Kitt played Catwoman in Adam West’s first Batman television program from the 1960s.

Aside from being caught up in MCU vs DC turmoil due to her Catwoman statements, Elizabeth Olsen has a tough schedule. She was most recently seen in Disney+’s WandaVision as Marvel’s Wanda Maximoff. Her character in the series dealt with the enormous sadness of losing her brother, Pietro Maximoff, and later the love of her life, Vision, who was slain by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, as well as embracing her potential as the Scarlet Witch after beating Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness.

As for Kravitz, the sky is the limit for the 32-year-old actress, and based on what we’ve seen from the trailers so far, it appears she’ll take the Catwoman character to even greater heights.
