In Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Anne Hathaway played Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Zoë Kravitz will next be seen portraying the DC Comics character in The Batman. Hathaway has offered some advice she would provide to her successor, who will feature in the Matt Reeves-directed picture.

It was Christopher Nolan who cast Hathaway in the Dark Knight Trilogy. The actor was far from the first woman to play the part. Eartha Kitt, Julie Newmar, Halle Berry, Camren Bicondova, and Michelle Pfeiffer are just a few of the women who have played Catwoman over the years, each with their own distinct flair.

If Hathaway had any advise, she would tell them to “literally not listen to anyone,” since she believes the only way to portray the character is to provide your own version of it.

“You saw the picture of her coming down those stairs, right? Yeah, she doesn’t need my advice,” Hathaway said, before being pressed into revealing what advice she would give in a hypothetical scenario.

“If I had any advice it would be literally don’t listen to anybody because I think the only way to play that role is to give your version of it,” she added.

“All of us had different directors and all of our interpretations were specific to the films that they were in, kind of like my Grand High Witch (in The Witches) is specific to Bob Zemeckis and Angelica Huston’s is specific to Nicolas Roeg’s, and that’s great!

The Joker, another popular DC live-action figure, was also mentioned by the Witches actor.

“All the Jokers were specific to each director they have, and so I don’t think you can get too bogged down with the comparison,” the 37-year-old shared. “And especially when you’re not the one doing it because your job is to give yours. And I’m so excited to see what she does with it. I thought she was a perfect choice.”

Kravitz was widely regarded as the greatest contender for the role of Catwoman in The Batman. Her casting was universally praised from the start, although many fans took a long to warm up to Robert Pattinson in the lead role.

As comic book aficionados may know, the star-studded film—which stars Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, and Colin Farrell—restarted filming in October following repeated delays due to the epidemic earlier this year.

The Batman has been pushed back from its original release date of 2021 to March 2022.

The Batman has sparked speculation concerning Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne and his costumed alter-ego.

Oswald Cobblepot / Penguin is played by Colin Farrell, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton / Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. It will center around a younger Batman, highlighting the caped crusader’s investigative side more than in prior installments.

It will always be difficult for a new actor to play Batman, especially given that so many actors have already played the legendary comic book character on the big and small screen. Most fan favorites currently appear to be Michael Keaton and Christian Bale, but fans are now starting to appreciate what Ben Affleck delivered with the Dark Knight.
