Ben Affleck and his ex-wife Jennifer Garner were recently spotted having a serious conversation while dropping off their children at school in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The pair shares three children together, and after dropping off a tray of treats at their kids’ school, Garner returned to her car where she and Affleck continued to chat.
Photos show Affleck looking forlorn as he walked next to Garner, who wore blue leggings, a gray sweater, calf-length socks, running shoes, and a pink baseball cap.
Representatives for Affleck and Garner did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the nature of their conversation.
This sighting comes just a week after Affleck was seen having an animated conversation with his current wife, Jennifer Lopez, in their SUV.
While an eyewitness claimed the couple was arguing, a source close to the couple told Page Six that they were simply chatting.
During the red carpet premiere of Lopez’s new movie “The Mother,” fans thought the couple had another icy exchange.
At first glance, Affleck appeared annoyed while pointing his fingers at Lopez, whose expressions suggested there may have been a disagreement.
However, a lip reader told DailyMail.com that the couple was merely discussing positioning before posing for photographers.
The expert said that Lopez appeared to ask Affleck whether her low-cut top was “showing too much,” prompting him to tell her it looked fine.
After posing together, Affleck turned to Lopez and seemingly said, “That’s us, done,” before asking if she was okay to continue posing for snaps by herself.
She appeared to respond positively.
The couple got married last summer and found themselves in the headlines the following day when a seemingly agitated Affleck slammed the door of their car after Lopez climbed in.
However, video of the incident indicated Affleck was frustrated with the paparazzi, not his wife.
Affleck previously joked about his resting sour expression, telling Jimmy Kimmel last March that he has a very unhappy-looking resting face.
He and Lopez first started dating in the early 2000s and eventually rekindled their love in 2021 after divorces from Garner and Marc Anthony in 2018 and 2014, respectively.
They now co-parent Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11, whom Affleck shares with Garner, and Lopez’s 15-year-old twins, Emme and Max, whom she welcomed with Anthony.
Despite their past relationships, Affleck and Garner have maintained a close co-parenting relationship.
In a 2020 interview with People, Garner spoke about how she and Affleck prioritize their children’s well-being.
“Ben and I are both working full-time and trying to figure out how to work in the kids’ needs,” she said.
“Our kids are happy, they’re healthy, and they have what they need.
No one needs to worry about that.”
It is unclear what Affleck and Garner were discussing during their recent conversation, but it is evident that they continue to prioritize their children’s well-being despite their divorce.
