Jennifer Lawrence has confessed that she confronted Anderson Cooper after the CNN presenter alleged that her 2013 Oscars fall was staged.

Jennifer Lawrence was so anxious on her way to accepting her first Academy Award in 2013, that she fell on the first step to the Oscars stage. She immediately recovered and laughed the entire thing off.

During an appearance on Heather McMahan’s “Absolutely Not” podcast, Lawrence discussed how she challenged Anderson Cooper after being “devastated” by his suggestion that she faked falling to appear more empathetic.

“I was ready for it. I was very nervous and also very superstitious. I didn’t want to acknowledge the possibility that I would win. I didn’t want to write down a speech,” Lawrence, 30, recalled. “I had everything in my head. I was very, very nervous but I was ready. All of the adrenaline clears out and they call my name and I’m elated and I’m in shock. And then I fell, and it erased everything from my mind. My full brain went blank. I can look back at it now fondly but for a very long time the fall thing was very sensitive.”

The actress made it to the platform after tripping while wearing her Christian Dior Couture gown, where she began her brief speech: “Thank you. You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell and that’s really embarrassing but thank you.”

Backstage, reporters inquired if she had fallen on purpose. “Absolutely,” the actress joked.

“What do you mean, what happened?” she added “Look at my dress. I tried to walk up the stars in this dress. They wax the stairs.” On the red carpet earlier that evening, she informed reporters that her stylist had taken six inches off the mermaid-style train of her Dior gown because it was too lengthy.

Lawrence, who was embarrassed by the whole event, said it became worse when she was watching CNN days later, and Cooper stated it was evident that she staged the fall.

“Anderson Cooper, I saw him on CNN three days later saying, ‘Well she obviously faked the fall,’ and it was so devastating because it was this horrific humiliation to me,” Lawrence recounted. “I don’t know if I’ll ever have a chance to give a speech like that again, so it didn’t feel good for me not to have a speech.”

So, yep, she freaked out when she saw Cooper in person. “I’ll tell you what, I saw him at a Christmas party and I let him know,” she said. “My friend told me a vein was bulging out of my eyes. He apologized. I think we’re good friends now. On my end, we’re all good. What I led with was ‘Have you ever tried to walk upstairs in a ball gown? So then how do you know?’ He apologized immediately and said he didn’t know and gave this wonderful apology. I was all fired up…he probably told everyone I was a psycho.”
