Demi Moore claimed that her ‘addiction’ to Ashton Kutcher had such a ‘devastating’ effect on her children.

On Monday’s episode of Red Table Talk on Facebook Watch, the 56-year-old actress opened up to Jada Pinkett Smith, and her ex-husband was the hot subject of the night.

“The addiction and the co-dependency… like my addiction to Ashton,” Moore recalled, “that was probably almost more devastating because it took me seriously away emotionally.”

To keep Kutcher happy, she even resumed drinking.

“Ashton said, ‘I don’t know if alcoholism’s a thing. I think it’s about moderation,’” Moore remarked. “If I had stayed close to working my program… I, of course, lived the majority of my adult life sober. I was great sober.”

She went on to say that she relapsed because she wanted to “be that girl.”

“I made my own story up, that he wanted somebody that he could have wine with that he could do stuff [with],” she added, “He’s not the cause of why I opened that door up. I wanted to be something other than who I am. And it was literally like giving my power away.”

Tallulah, Demi’s youngest daughter, told hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris about the impact Demi’s addictions had on her older sisters.

‘Watching the behavior with Ashton, those years, because everyone had left the house and it was just me living there,’ she recalled. ‘I felt very forgotten and I feel like I developed and nurtured a narrative where she didn’t love me and I truly believed it.’

‘I know that she does, 100 percent but in that moment you’re hurt.’

Moore began misusing alcohol and Vicodin after Kutcher and Moore divorced.

Tallulah remembered her mother being drunk and saying, “It’s like the sun went down and like, a monster came. I remember there’s just the anxiety that would come up in my body when I could sense that her eyes were shutting a little bit more, the way she was speaking. Or she would be a lot more affectionate with me if she wasn’t sober.”

Tallulah said, “It was very weird, and there were moments where it would get angry. I recall being very upset and kind of treating her like a child and speaking to her like a child. It was not the mom that we had grown up with.”
