Emma Watson is happily single. She’s even coined a new term to describe her present relationship status: self-partnered.

The actress was discussing the difficulties of approaching 30 and having a picture-perfect life when she debuted the new term.

In a new interview with British Vogue, Watson discussed her upcoming milestone birthday. “I  was like, ‘Why does everyone make such a big fuss about turning 30? This is not a big deal…’” she tells the magazine. “Cut to 29, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I feel so stressed and anxious.’ And I realize it’s because there is suddenly this bloody influx of subliminal messaging around. If you have not built a home, if you do not have a husband, if you do not have a baby, and you are turning 30, and you’re not in some incredibly secure, stable place in your career, or you’re still figuring things out…. There’s just this incredible amount of anxiety.”

Emma emphasizes that she is content being single, referring to it as “being self-partnered”

Previously, the Harry Potter actress stated that she had never felt it was possible to be happy and single.

“I was like, ‘This is totally spiel’,” she said. “It took me a long time, but I’m very happy [being single]. I call it being self-partnered.”

Watson says her favorite aspect of filming Little Women was working alongside women like Meryl Streep and Laura Dern. “What was really nice about working with Laura Dern and Meryl Streep was that the three of us knew each other way before we did Little Women,” she tells British Vogue. “We met in activist spaces, so we had this allyship and solidarity as activists that had been part of a certain movement before we ever worked together.”

Emma co-stars with Timothee Chalamet, Saoirse Ronan, and Florence Pugh in the forthcoming film rendition of Little Women.

Whether she stays single or not, Emma Watson obviously understands the importance of enjoying life at your own pace.

Watson, who rose to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, has previously stated that she prefers not to date celebrities.

“I don’t think it’s fair that, all of a sudden, intimate details of their personal life are public as a direct result of me. I wish I could protect them,” she said in an interview with Elle Australia.
