Emma Watson was trending on Thursday after a story in The Daily Mail said she will be retiring from acting in order to focus on her relationship with Leo Robinton. This, however, is not the case. Emma’s manager at Untitled Entertainment, Jason Weinberg, has stated that the actress has no intentions of retiring.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Jason said, “Emma’s social media accounts are dormant, but her career isn’t.”

According to the story, the star had gone ‘dormant’ and was walking away from the spotlight to settle with lover Leo Robinton, with whom she had been in a one-and-a-half year relationship. “Emma has gone underground, she is settling down with Leo. They’re laying low. Maybe she wants a family,” according to a source quoted by the portal.

“Emma’s official Instagram page is currently dormant and is not being updated,” states the 30-year-old actress’ Instagram bio.

Watson’s fans expressed their relief at the news on Twitter.

“I was in mid panic this morning. Glad to see the queen still in business,” one fan said.

“Maybe Emma [is] waiting for the right role. You don’t want to just do anything. She is lucky probably doesn’t have to audition for roles and can pick and choose,” wrote another.

Fans rushed to Twitter to pay Emma Watson honors and recall her body of work before her manager’s clarification. One fan said, “Emma Watson thank you for being the best actress. I will miss your acting. Stay happy and healthy with your new life #EmmaWatson (sic).”

“Emma Watson, thank you for being our Hermione, Belle, Nicki, Sam, Meg March, and many more,” wrote another fan, “Thank you for your work, for being our muse, and for being a role model. I’m hoping one day you choose to return to film, but for now, I wish you all the best and we support and love you dearly.”

Another fan wrote, “Everyone say thank you emma watson for gracing us with the legend that is hermione granger.” Another wrote, “No more emma watson??? she is one of my fav but it’s okay as long as she’s happy with her decision.”

Another wrote, “Emma Watson Retiring is something very personal to every Potterhead. No I will not be Getting Over this!! (sic).”

Watson hasn’t had a lot of screen time recently, which is understandable. She most recently appeared in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women as Meg March in 2019. Her performances in The Circle and the live-action Beauty and the Beast had preceded this. But just because it’s light doesn’t mean it’s finished.

Emma became famous because of the Harry Potter film series, which is based on JK Rowling’s writings and tells the narrative of the titular young hero Harry Potter. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint star in the blockbuster film franchise based on the series.
