Emma Watson responded with a hilarious way to her childhood photo mix-up with Emma Roberts during the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts Reunion special episode. The actress moved to Instagram to share Roberts’ really adorable childhood photo, which the reunion’s producers mistook for hers.

The reunion special has sparked both excitement and controversy.

Many members of the Harry Potter cast returned to Hogwarts for HBO Max’s reunion special. Emma Watson was one of them. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Tom Felton, as well as a number of other supporting actors from the franchise, were in attendance.

A portrait of a young Emma Roberts was mislabeled as Emma Watson, who initially played Hermione in the films, in the film, which aired on HBO Max on January 1st. Watson captioned the photo, “I was NOT this cute, @emmaroberts #emmasistersforever.”

Fans reacted quickly in the comments section of Emma Watson’s post, praising her humorous retort. “The emmaverse is real,” one person said, while another said, “FINALLY the queen herself setting the record straight for us once and for all.”

After fans pointed out the blunder after the reunion episode aired on January 1, the producers decided to rectify it, praising Potterheads for being observant. A  statement by the reunion special’s producers said, “Well spotted Harry Potter fans! You brought an editing mistake of a mislabeled photograph to our attention. New version is up now.”

Returning to Hogwarts allowed the crew to reminisce on their time working on the films. It also chronicled the main trio’s development, from the creation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone through the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

While the mislabeling of the Emmas, was the best known error, there were other mistakes in the film that the actors caught, including the mislabeling of James and Oliver Phelps, who play the Weasley twins, a trick that their characters used repeatedly throughout the films.

“I guess after all those pranks over the years somebody decided to get their revenge,” wrote Oliver Phelps. “It was fantastic to be part of the HP reunion. Hope you all enjoyed it.”

Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, claimed responsibility for the mistake. “It was my doing 🙂 #weaslebee,” he said.
