Margot Robbie is friends with the real-life Wonder Woman, it turns out.

In the DC world, Robbie plays Harley Quinn, and she spoke to People about her growing friendship with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins and actress Gal Gadot.

“As soon as I saw Wonder Woman at the cinema, I immediately wrote to her (Gadot) and Patty and said how proud they had made me feel to be a woman in the DC universe. I sat there watching that movie, and not only was I engrossed in the film ’cause it’s a brilliant film, I thought, ‘I’m a woman in the DC universe and they right now have made me so proud to be there.’ So yeah, anytime I see Gal I wanna give her a big hug,'” Robbie told People.

The two actresses are also part of the DC superhero world, with Robbie portraying Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad and Gadot as Diana Prince, who wields a lasso. In an otherwise lambasted film, Robbie’s portrayal of the conflicted muse to Jared Leto’s Joker was a widely acclaimed bright spot. With her roles in the standalone summer smash Wonder Woman and last month’s Justice League, Gadot has wowed viewers and critics alike.

LuckyChap Entertainment, Robbie’s production business, is working on a “totally separate,” female-centric Harley Quinn film.

At a press day for I, Tonya, Robbie told MTV News correspondent Josh Horowitz, “I want to see her with other women. I kept saying it while we were filming Suicide Squad. I was like, ‘She needs her girlfriends.'”

Despite the fact that there are multiple projects in the works that will bring her fan-favorite “Suicide Squad” persona back to life, Robbie isn’t sure which one will go into production first.

“But I think everyone’s keen to get Harley back on screen,” Robbie continued.

Alternatively, with Jenkins returning to direct the highly anticipated Wonder Woman sequel and bringing Wonder Woman to the United States, all three women may be able to collaborate.
