According to the film’s leading woman, the “Fast and Furious” franchise does not show enough appreciation to its female stars.

Michelle Rodriguez revealed on Instagram that she will be leaving her beloved role as Letty Ortiz in the blockbuster “Fast and Furious” trilogy due to the series’ lack of strong female voices.

“F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one,” she wrote, “or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise.”

“It’s been a good ride & I’m grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years … One Love,” she continued.

The comment was added to a photo collage of herself, onscreen rider-or-die Vin Diesel, Nathalie Emmanuel, and a swarm of admirers. While the Fast and Furious franchise has been one of the most financially successful of recent action films, it has also been marred by tragedy; series actor Paul Walker died in a vehicle accident in 2013. The current sequel was also dogged by accusations of conflict on site between producer Vin Diesel and fellow larger-than-life performer The Rock. Two further films will be released in 2019 and 2021.

Rodriguez, who has played Letty in five of the eight editions, has previously stated that she, along with actress Jordana Brewster, who plays Dom’s sister, and other women who have joined the series, has had minimal dialogue.

“I think that’s pathetic and it’s lack of creativity,” the 38-year-old told Entertainment Weekly.

Rodriguez recently told Entertainment Weekly that the movies are still dominated by guys.

“On day one, I [changed] the character from being something that I could not do in front of millions of people into a character that I’m actually proud of, but at the end of the day, what message are we sending out there for women?” she said. “It does weigh heavy on my head — especially in the male-dominated environment that I work in.”

Rodriguez’s supporters appear to agree with her and have praised her for coming up.

“She has a point though we’ve never seen her and Mia talk in the entire franchise or have an all girl team up to save the guys or save any guy,” King alima said beneath Rodriguez’s post.

Rodriguez, along with Diesel, is one of the few actors that appeared in the franchise’s original film and is still in the sequels.

The Fate of the Furious was released in April and has made more over $1 billion worldwide, bringing the total earnings of the eight-film franchise to more than $5 billion.
