Charlize Theron is promoting her new picture Atomic Blonde.

While at it, she revealed that she punched Teri Hatcher in the face while filming 2 Days in the Valley in 1996. Directed by John Herzfeld, 2 Days In The Valley, is a comedy about 48 hours in the life of a group of characters who are brought together by a murder. Hatcher and Theron’s fight sequence has gone down in cinematic history as one of the finest, beating even Roadhouse in the top 20 fight scenes on Rotten Tomatoes.

On set and off, the fiery actress, 41, used to have a bit of a temper. Unfortunately, as Theron detailed in the August issue of W magazine, fellow actress Teri Hatcher had firsthand experience with it.

Charlize Theron is no stranger to battle sequences, and in her most recent film, the 41-year-old reprises her role as an undercover MI6 operative.

Theron reflected on her dispute with Teri and mentioned some fascinating things about it.

“2 Days in the Valley. Rotten Tomatoes gave it number 17 on the list of 20 Greatest Fight Scenes Ever. The fight was between me and Teri Hatcher. I hit her really bad.”

“I think she was bruised. And because it was Teri Hatcher, who was a star, and I was this bleached-blonde-Amazonian, catsuit-wearing nobody who was punching her in the face, I was like a wild animal. Back then I didn’t know how to hone in my energy and I was knocking over lights.”

She continued, “I had no concept of a set. I connected right with Teri Hatcher’s face. I felt terrible about it. I had no money and sent her some cheap beer the next day. Sorry, Teri.”

On the new cover, Charlize has slightly teased bleach-blonde hair a la Debbie Harry and crimson lipstick, channeling her inner ’80s goddess.

She also wears a succession of ’80s-inspired costumes, including a metallic dress without a bra and pink tights under metallic shorts (her new film is set in the decade).

The Oscar winner went on to say that she had only ever been into a fight with one other person, other than Teri.

Explaining the situation, she said: “I was working in Milan as a model, and this girl got very aggressive with me at a bar. She pushed me and started talking smack, and that was it. My body just took over, and I thought, ‘I didn’t just do that, did I?’”

Many other actors have been injured on set, including Bruce Willis, who had severe hearing impairment while filming Die Hard, and Tom Holland was nearly knocked unconscious on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming when he sustained a sharp hit to the head. During the making of Back to the Future III, Michael J. Fox was nearly hanged while attempting to make a hanging scene appear more genuine, and Harrison Ford’s leg was fractured when a door on the Millennium Falcon abruptly closed, crushing the actor’s leg.

Despite the fact that the Oscar winner was known for throwing punches in her prime, Theron was also injured while filming Atomic Blonde.

In an interview with the New York Times, Theron remarked, “I remember it was day two, and my body was hurting, and my face was all bruised up, and my eye was swollen shut.”

“I remember thinking to myself, Really?”

‘It’s like dance, and I grew up taking ballet. I love discipline,’ she said. ‘I function really well within the parameters of discipline and knowing what to do.’

‘Look, I’ve always been fascinated by abhorrent behavior. I have a real interest in why people do horrible things,’ she said. ‘I read a lot of books and am fascinated by whether deviant behavior is caused by nature or nurture. There’s a part of me that wants to understand that darkness, but I can’t really understand it.

“So, it is cathartic to play a character who is evil. It’s a free pass for your soul: Nothing bad is going to happen, and you can explore what it would be like to be in that skin.”
