Charlize Theron underwent a physically demanding transformation for her role in the film “Tully.”

To accurately portray a mother of three, she gained 50 pounds in just over three months.

This was a significant change for the actress, who previously won an Oscar for her transformation in “Monster.”

However, the weight gain came with some negative consequences for Theron.

She struggled with depression and found it difficult to maintain the weight, often having to set alarms in the middle of the night to eat cold macaroni and cheese.

She also mentioned that the process of gaining the weight was much more difficult at age 43 compared to when she was 27.

In addition to the physical challenges, Theron’s two children, Jackson and August, were convinced that she was pregnant due to her sudden weight gain.

The actress explained that she wanted to fully embody the mindset of her character and felt that gaining the weight was a way to get closer to the role.

However, Theron admitted that the first three weeks of her weight gain were enjoyable as she indulged in burgers and milkshakes.

But after that, the process became more of a burden. She stated that “after three weeks, it’s not fun anymore. Like, all of a sudden you’re just done eating that amount and then it becomes a job.”

“After three weeks, it’s not fun anymore,” she said.

“Like, all of a sudden you’re just done eating that amount and then it becomes a job.

“I remember having to set my alarm in the middle of the night in order to just maintain [the weight].

“I would literally wake up at two in the morning and I’d have a cup of cold macaroni and cheese just next to me.

“I would wake up and I would just eat it…I would just, like, shove it in my throat. It’s hard to maintain that weight.”

Despite the difficulties, Theron was ultimately successful in her transformation for the film. She won an Oscar for her role in “Monster” and received praise for her transformation in “Tully.”

However, the process of losing the weight afterwards was a long journey that took about a year and a half.

In reflecting on the experience, Theron noted that “there’s nothing fun about that. It was a long journey, very long journey.”

She also mentioned that in contrast to the weight gain for “Monster,” where she simply abstained from snacking for five days, the weight gain for “Tully” was much more demanding and required more effort to maintain.

Despite the challenges, Charlize Theron’s dedication to her craft is undeniable.

She was willing to put her body and mental health through a gruelling transformation in order to accurately portray her character in “Tully.”

While the process was not without its difficulties, Theron’s commitment paid off with praise for her performance and transformation.
