Cara Delevingne has spoken up about her relationship with Rihanna as the duo feature together in Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Since meeting at a fashion show five years ago, the 24-year-old model-turned-actress has cherished her strong bond with her now co-star.

Cara said working with Riri was an experience she will never forget. “I’ve seen her work in the studio, in concert, in meetings. But to see her act was incredible,” she says.

She also has a song on the soundtrack, I Feel Everything, and says it was a no-brainer for her to seek advice from the Work singer when she needed it.

“As friends especially I’ve always spoken to her about my dreams,” Delevingne told Sky News.

“Actually when we were at the premiere together she was like ‘it’s so funny when you came to my house in L.A and you said to me I can’t wait I just want to be an actress so badly and do music’ and she was like ‘look where we are now’,” she said.

“She definitely has been a really great support to me, not only as a friend but of course she’s a great person to ask for music advice.”

In the otherworldly film, the model and actress, 24, portrays Laureline opposite Rihanna’s Bubble.

‘It’s been amazing,’ the actress remarked on Lorraine. ‘We met at a fashion show and five years later we’re doing a Luc Besson film.’

‘We all grew up watching his films so to be appearing in them as leading ladies is incredible.’

Rihanna previously said that the two became friends after Cara smacked her bum.

“We get silly with each other,” she remarked. “The first time we met was because she came up to me and slapped me on the bum. But myself and cara are incredibly close. It’s portrayed like we are just party buddies but there is much more to our friendship. She is great fun to go out with but, more importantly, I value our closeness.”

“We have busy schedules but no matter where either of us are in the world, we know we can just pick up the phone and unload on each other, and that we are always ready to listen or offer advice. If you have two or three friends like that in this world then you can call yourself blessed. She is very special to me.”

Cara’s preparation for her role in the science fiction film forced her to get in shape like she’d never been before. “I’ve never been so strong. You want to feel like you could actually kick a massive alien down! I meditated, I practised yoga, I ate well, I slept a lot. You can’t embrace anything wholeheartedly without a clear head,” she explained.
