Vin Diesel, known for his work in the Fast & Furious franchise and other Hollywood hits, almost lost his home after investing in The Chronicles of Riddick franchise.

Although the franchise is not as well-known as others, it still remains active to this day.

The sci-fi franchise consists of three feature films: Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Riddick.

The franchise also includes an animated short film, video games, and comics.

While the franchise maintained its progress, it was never a major commercial success.

In 2013, Vin Diesel revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he almost lost his house due to funding issues with the making of the third installment of the franchise, Riddick.

Backed by no major studio, the movie encountered many obstacles during production.

Diesel stated that his house was one of the core motivations for him to finish the film.

“I had to leverage my house.

If we didn’t finish the film, I would be homeless,” he said.

Director and writer David Twohy added that the crew was forced to finish the movie within 47 days to adjust for budget issues.

Despite the fact that the second installment was the highest-grossing film in the franchise, the third installment was still made due to a fan request for an R-rated movie based on the franchise.

Diesel says that the fan’s request motivated him to make it happen.

He stated, “Something about that comment made me think, bless their heart, and if I can do anything with this newfound success, if I could do anything at all, I could deliver on that wish.

It’s a strange and unique sense of gratification, and it’s not like any film I’ve done in the last 10 years.”

Riddick earned a total of $98.3 million, which was not as big compared to Diesel’s other projects.

However, impressive DVD sales forced the directors to consider another sequel.

The upcoming addition to the franchise is titled Riddick: Furya and will feature the character’s return to his homeworld.

Although not much information has been released about the project, it was reported that the pre-production has moved into the stage of storyboarding.

In addition to the sequel, director David Twohy and Vin Diesel were reportedly working on a spin-off TV show titled Merc City.

All of the movies in The Chronicles of Riddick franchise are available to stream on Netflix.
