For the second year in a row, the action hero is the highest-paid actor on Forbes’ annual list. But, unlike in 2019, he isn’t accompanied in the top 10 by four Marvel Avengers.

Johnson earned $87.5 million between June 2019 and June this year (he earned $89.4 million last year). He had Netflix’s assistance this time. According to Forbes, the wrestler-turned-actor is slated to feature in Netflix’s forthcoming action film “Red Notice,” for which he will be paid $23.5 million.

Johnson earned $89.4 million in 2019 from appearing in “Jumanji: The Next Level,” among other ventures, which is a small decline from 2018. Johnson topped the list for the first time in 2016, with earnings of $64.5 million.

Ryan Reynolds and Mark Wahlberg came in second and third, with $71.5 million and $58 million, respectively. With the exception of Johnson, the names on this year’s top 10 are a stark contrast to those on last year’s list, which was dominated by Marvel movie stars.

With $55 million in profits from his return to the big screen in “The Way Back” and “The Last Thing He Wanted,” Ben Affleck comes in next.

Johnson’s Fast and Furious co-star Vin Diesel came in later with $54 million, owing mostly to Netflix’s Fast & Furious Spy Racers, which he also produced. Because to the coronavirus epidemic, the ninth installment of the film series has been postponed until next year.

Johnson is still selling his lucrative Under Armour line, which includes shoes, clothing, and headphones. As he prepares to make his DC superhero debut, the large checks will keep pouring in.

The lone Bollywood celebrity in the top ten was Indian actor Akshay Kumar. He landed in sixth position with $48.5 million in earnings, primarily from product endorsement deals, according to Forbes.

The top ten is completed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Will Smith, Adam Sandler, and Jackie Chan. Miranda’s $45.5 million comes almost entirely from the streaming rights agreement she struck with Disney+ for the film adaptation of Hamilton.

After the success of last year’s “Murder Mystery,” which is one of Netflix’s most popular films ever, Adam Sandler won another multimillion-dollar agreement with the streaming service in January for four more films. With $41 million, Sandler ranked ninth on Forbes’ list. Mark Wahlberg, who appeared in this year’s Netflix hit “Spenser Confidential” came in third.

According to Forbes, the top ten earners made $545.5 million this year, with Netflix accounting for more than a quarter of that.

Forbes’ calculations are based on statistics from Nielsen, ComScore, Box Office Mojo, and IMDb, as well as interviews with industry insiders. The figures are pre-tax and cover the period June 1, 2019 to June 1, 2020.

Though Forbes has not yet released its list of the highest-paid actresses for 2020, the top 10 women on last year’s list earned just $314.6 million.
