Actor Jason Bateman has revealed that he and fellow actor Rick Schroder nearly ran over Michael Jackson with their bicycles while on the set of the 1980s sitcom Silver Spoons.

Bateman told the story on Friday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, saying that Jackson was visiting the set and the two actors were on a break from filming, riding their bikes around the set.

“This is while we were doing Silver Spoons at Universal and we’d need to have our bikes because kids gotta play,” Bateman told Kimmel. “Michael was there to see [Schroder].”

Silver Spoons was a popular NBC sitcom that ran from 1982 to 1987. The show starred Schroder as Ricky Stratton, a young boy who is forced to move in with his wealthy father, Edward Stratton III (played by Joel Higgins).

Bateman played Ricky’s best friend, Derek Taylor, in the first two seasons of the show, before leaving and being replaced by Alfonso Ribeiro.

During the interview with Kimmel, Bateman paused his story to give the audience a concerned look, seemingly in reference to the sexual abuse allegations that were later made against Jackson. The audience responded with shock and some laughter.

“I don’t — listen, hey!” Bateman replied, raising his hands in the air. “He was a fan of the show and a fan of the Ricker!”

Despite not being a fan of the show, Jackson was nearly hit by Bateman and Schroder’s bicycles. Bateman explained that Jackson was coming onto the stage while the two actors were “zooming off” on their bikes and almost got hit.

Luckily, Jackson was able to avoid the collision and escape without injury.

Michael Jackson was one of the biggest pop stars of the 1980s and 1990s, known for hits such as “Thriller,” “Beat It,” and “Billie Jean.”

He rose to fame as a member of the Jackson 5 and went on to have a successful solo career. However, in recent years, Jackson has been the subject of numerous sexual abuse allegations.

In 2003, Jackson was accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy. He was acquitted of all charges in 2005.

In 2013, a documentary called Leaving Neverland was released, in which two men accused Jackson of sexually abusing them when they were children. Jackson’s estate has denied the allegations.

Despite the controversy surrounding Jackson, he remains a highly influential and iconic figure in pop culture. His music and stage performances continue to be celebrated, and his influence can be seen in many contemporary artists.

In the end, the incident between Jackson, Bateman, and Schroder was ultimately a non-event, with no harm coming to Jackson. But it serves as a reminder of Jackson’s tumultuous career and the lasting impact he has had on the music industry.
