Diana Ross has become the latest star to support Michael Jackson in the wake of the sex abuse claims, calling him a “magnificent force.”

Wade Robson and James Safechuck accused Jackson of assaulting them as minors in the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland.

“This is what’s on my heart this morning,” Ross, who duetted live with Jackson and knew him for many years, posted on Twitter. “This is what’s on my heart this morning. I believe and trust that Michael Jackson was and is a magnificent incredible force to me and to many others.” She urged people to stop criticizing Jackson, adding, “Stop in the name of love,” a reference to the title of one of her biggest hits with the Supremes.

Ross and Jackson, who had been friends for a long time, had a lot of tight links. They worked together on Ross’ song “Muscles” in the early 1980s, and they also starred in 1978’s The Wiz.

Mark Young, Ross’ agent, told USA TODAY on Sunday that they had no additional comment on the post.

Diana then published a link to Stevie Wonder’s song, Love’s In Need Of Love Today, a few hours after her contentious tweet, possibly to reinforce the message in her previous post.

Her words follow those of Barbra Streisand, who has also expressed her support for Jackson. “[His] sexual needs were his sexual needs, coming from whatever childhood he has or whatever DNA he has,” she told the Times. “You can say ‘molested’, but those children, as you heard say, they were thrilled to be there. They both married and they both have children, so it didn’t kill them.”

Following that, the Hollywood legend was questioned if she felt any resentment toward Michael as a result of the documentary.

“It’s a combination of feelings,” Barbra said. “I feel bad for the children. I feel bad for him.”

Following the backlash, Streisand issued a statement clarifying her remarks. “To be crystal clear, there is no situation or circumstance where it is OK for the innocence of children to be taken advantage of by anyone,” she added, adding that she had “nothing but sympathy” for Jackson’s alleged victims.

Streisand also apologized on her Instagram account.

“I am profoundly sorry for any pain or misunderstanding I caused by not choosing my words more carefully about Michael Jackson and his victims, because the words do not reflect my true feelings. I did not mean to dismiss the trauma these boys experienced in any way.”

The Jackson estate has blasted “Leaving Neverland,” pointing out that Jackson was cleared of molestation accusations in a 2005 trial before he died at the age of 50 in 2009.

In February, the superstar’s nephew, Taj Jackson, told USA TODAY, “The legacy and the fans around the world, this is not going to do anything to them because they know the truth.”
