Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, co-stars in the film Eternals, are our new favorite Hollywood besties.
Salma Hayek released a video of her birthday festivities on Instagram, which included Angelina Jolie. Jolie was spotted slamming Hayek’s face into the cake. In her post, the Frida actress revealed that it was a Mexican custom that she was teaching Angelina. “My brother @hayekstudio and me trying to teach Angie how to do the Mexican mordida @angelinajolie,” he wrote.
As part of a Mexican birthday custom, the group screams “Mordida! Mordida!” until Jolie unwillingly shoves Hayek’s face into the cake for the first taste. As the actor and philanthropist prepares herself, Hayek can be heard telling Jolie, “Do it.”
During the candid moment, Jolie couldn’t stop laughing, smiling and hiding her face as she shoved Hayek’s head down into the cream-covered dessert.
Hayek celebrated her birthday in a unique way earlier this week, posing in a blue swimming suit in paradise. “Happy 55th birthday to me. Looking forward to new adventures #grateful,” the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard actress captioned the photo, which was taken when Hayek was on a tropical vacation.
Hayek’s post hints at the incredible relationship she’s developed with Angelina Jolie while working on their highly anticipated Marvel flick. Following the release of the film’s teaser, fans are anxious to watch the storyline of new Marvel superheroes from Phase 4.
The Eternals, an immortal alien species, emerge from seclusion after thousands of years to protect Earth from their evil counterparts, the Deviants, according to the plot. Salma Hayek will portray Ajak, the knowledgeable and spiritual leader of the ‘Eternals,’ who can cure and serves as a ‘bridge’ between the Eternals and the Celestials. Angelina Jolie will portray Thena, an elite ‘Eternal’ warrior capable of creating any weapon from cosmic energy. Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, and Kit Harington feature in the forthcoming film. As part of Phase Four of the MCU, Eternals will be released in the United States on November 5, 2021.
“Five years ago, Thanos erased half of the population of the universe. The people of this planet brought everyone back with a snap of a finger,” Hayek narrates at the top of the film’s final trailer. “The sudden return of the population provided the necessary energy for the emergence to begin.”
The Maleficent actress, Jolie — who only just created an Instagram account this summer — recently revealed that her children were spending their last days of summer immersed in books.
“End of #summerreading,” the Oscar winner captioned the Instagram post, which featured her children Zahara and Shiloh. “These are some of the favorites in our house. Would love to know yours.”
Hayek honored Jolie’s birthday in June by posting a romantic snapshot of the two suited up for a Comic Con event on Instagram.
“Happy birthday my Eternal sister… Angie you are the boss,” the actress said.
