Barbra Streisand recently commented about her relationship with the Prince of Wales, recalling that after they met in 1974, he gave her flowers.
They met in 1974, while she was recording for Warner Bros. and he was a 26-year-old Royal Navy soldier, three years before he met Princess Diana.
“It was so sweet,” Streisand said of the “special memories” the Prince of Wales recently shared with the Times of London with U.K. host Ross King.
She remembered: ‘I offered him a sip of tea and I thought, “They didn’t have to test me for poison or something? No.”
Streisand claimed their connection was still going strong and that she liked spending time with Prince Charles at Highgrove Gardens, his private estate.
Streisand later received fresh cut flowers from the prince at the London hotel where she was staying.

“I said, ‘Who sent me that?'” recalled Streisand, 79, “and she said, ‘A fan called Charles.’ And I said, ‘Really? Let me see the note’ — and there was his seal. And they weren’t like from a florist because they were from his gardens and it’s a different look.”
The songstress laughed over her assistant, who ‘just mistook it for a fan’, which she thought was ‘so funny’.
Streisand added: “I had a very funny line on stage when he came to see [my] show [in Hyde Park in 2019]. I said, ‘You know, if I played my cards right, I could have wound up being the first Jewish princess!’”
In the late 1970s, Prince Charles and Princess Diana met through Diana’s sister, Sarah Spencer, whom Charles was seeing at the time.
She did add, “I had a very funny line on stage when he came to see [my] show. I said, ‘You know, if I played my cards right, I could have wound up being the first Jewish princess!'”
Prince Charles told The Sunday Times in July that Streisand was a “great admirer” of his.
Prince Charles said of Streisand, “I shall never forget her dazzling, effervescent talent and the unique vitality and attraction of her voice and her acting ability.”
Streisand was not just friendly with the royals, but also with politicians. She stated earlier this week on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Jackie Kennedy, the former first lady, wanted to revise her memoir.
