Spider-Man: Far From Home is only a few weeks away from entering cinemas, which means the cast is presently doing the press rounds. During the press junket for the next film in London, Brandon Davis of ComicBook.com got the opportunity to speak with Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios. Many details were disclosed by Feige, including the thrilling announcement that Avengers: Endgame would be re-released in cinemas with new footage. Davis seized the opportunity to question the producer on the MCU’s probable future involvement of several famous celebrities, including Keanu Reeves, the Internet’s current boyfriend.

Keanu Reeves has been expressing his desire to portray Wolverine more than any other character recently, and it has now been confirmed that the actor has spoken with Marvel Studios.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is at the pinnacle of its powers following Avengers: Endgame. Keanu Reeves is also at the pinnacle of his powers, due to the continuous brilliance of the John Wick series, that appearance in Always Be My Maybe, his performance as stuntman toy Duke Kaboom in Toy Story 4, and a near-constant level of internet thirst. So, how about bringing Keanu Reeves into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? It’s something that uber-producer Kevin Feige has reportedly contemplated for a long time – and now that the internet knows about it, it’ll almost certainly be discussed until it happens.

Aside from the idea of Keanu Reeves joining the MCU, Feige also spoke about the possibilities of a Venom/Spider-Man crossover film in the future. But it’s unlikely to feature Keanu Reeves, so why should you care?

“A couple of actors I want to ask you about. Keanu Reeves: you guys talking to him for anything?,” Davis asked.

“We talk to him for almost every film we make,” Feige laughed. “We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

Kevin Feige went on to compare placing Keanu Reeves in the MCU to casting Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home, stating that they spoke with Gyllenhaal numerous times before they discovered the appropriate character for him. In the MCU, Feige and Marvel are looking for a similar occurrence with Keanu Reeves.

Still, it’s enough to make people wonder how Reeves might fit into a comic book character — could he play a supporting part in the unofficially-announced-but-basically-happening Shang-Chi? After all, he is a kung-fu master. Or, like Jeff Goldblum in Thor: Ragnarok, he may lean into his ever-growing mythological character in a Taika Waititi-style part. In any case, if this does come to pass, it may be a tremendous “wow” moment.

Fans have been speculating if Tom Hardy’s Venom will meet paths with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man since the film was given the green light.

While speaking with CinemaBlend, Feige was asked this question, and while his response wasn’t fully positive, it wasn’t entirely negative either:

“I think probably it’s up to Sony. Sony has both those characters and, has Venom in their world. I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.”

Davis also inquired about Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things, Godzilla: King of the Monsters), and while Feige described them both as “good actors” who would be fun to see in the MCU, he added that “nothing specific” was currently on the table for them.

Keanu Reeves recently stated, “When I was a kid, I always wanted to play Wolverine. So Wolverine.”

In December of 2018, the actor was also asked whether he would like to play Batman or Wolverine, with Reeves opting for the latter.

“Of the two, I’d love to play Wolverine,” Reeves remarked, adding that Wolverine is the only comic book character he’d consider playing. “I don’t have another [role I would rather play], to be candid.”
