For almost 30 years, Jennifer Aniston has been one of the world’s most popular pinups.

But it appears that Jennifer Aniston was not immune to childhood bullying.

Jennifer Aniston, 49, spoke up about her past in an interview with Instyle, stating that she was ridiculed in middle school for being slightly overweight.

Aniston confessed she had a tough time in middle school during a discussion with Jimmy Kimmel Live! co-head writer Molly McNearny, who queried her about how social media impacts children now.

‘I was one of the kids who the others would decide to make fun of. It was an odd period of time during fifth, sixth, seventh grades. I was a little on the chubby side, so I was just that kid.’

Aniston says she is thankful she was not involved in the world of social media when she was a child.

“Childhood is such a vulnerable time, and I’m sure a part of me believed all that they teased me about. Thankfully, I didn’t have a phone or social media to look at and think, ‘Oh, I’m not this, I’m not that.’ I just wanted to have fun and play capture the flag.’ ”

In response to the social pressures that social media apps and networking sites frequently place on children, Aniston explained, “I think iPhones and Snapchat and all this stuff is just fueling narcissism,” asserting that all of the filters available on Snapchat and Instagram simply help people mask who they truly are. The actress also stated that today’s children are “starting way younger than when I even gave a crap about what I looked like or what makeup I wore or what guy I liked.”

Aniston also cleared the air regarding her personal life during the conversation.

“It’s pretty crazy,” Aniston, 49, told the publication. “The misconceptions are ‘Jen can’t keep a man,’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career.’ Or that I’m sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken.”

“And second, those are reckless assumptions,” she went on. “No one knows what’s going on behind closed doors. No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me. They don’t know what I’ve been through medically or emotionally. There is a pressure on women to be mothers, and if they are not, then they’re deemed damaged goods. Maybe my purpose on this planet isn’t to procreate. Maybe I have other things I’m supposed to do?”

She plays a former beauty pageant queen in her next film, the musical Dumplin’.

When asked if she had ever participated in a pageant, Aniston smiled and said, ‘That’s hysterical. No. Do you know what I looked like as a kid? The truth is, that’s all changing now. That’s what this movie is all about. It’s about redefining beauty and how we as a society interpret what beauty is.

‘I love that the Miss America pageant is going to get rid of the swimsuit competition altogether.’
