Macaulay Culkin had no regrets about declining a position on one of television’s most popular programs.

In a new interview, Culkin stated that he was asked three times to feature in The Big Bang Theory but turned it down each time. The 37-year-old Home Alone star said on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast that he passed on a part in the CBS series, though he didn’t specify which one.

“I couldn’t see myself doing a sitcom or a television show kind of thing,” Culkin said. “A good one, I’d do. Like, NewsRadio is a fantastic show,” Culkin continued, referring to Rogan’s first sitcom from the 1990s. “That must’ve been a fruitful endeavor.”

“They pursued me for The Big Bang Theory,” he continued. “And I said, like, ‘No’…’cause it was kinda, like the way the pitch was, was kinda just like, ‘Alright, these two like, astrophysicist nerds and then a pretty girl lives with them—yoinks!’ That was the pitch…I said, ‘Yeah, no, I’m cool, thanks.’ And then they came back at me again, and I said, ‘No, no, no. Again, flattered, but like, no.’ Then they came back at me again, and even my manager was like twisting my arm.”

Along with Kaley Cuoco, CBS cast Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons as the two male stars in the series. The sitcom just finished its 11th season and has received 46 Emmy nominations, winning nine of them.

Culkin appears to be happy with his selection.

He added, “Listen, I’d have hundreds of millions of dollars now if I did that gig. At the same time, I’d be bashing my head against the wall.”

According to Forbes, Parsons is the highest-paid male TV actor, earning $27.5 million per year. With $26.5 million, Galecki is No. 2, Helberg is No. 3, and Nayyar is No. 4 with $25 million. With a salary of $26 million, Cuoco is the second highest-paid TV actress.

Culkin claims that he does not actively pursue acting and that he does not even have an agent, and that he survives mostly on his money. His youth playing appearances in the first two Home Alone films, My Girl, the Good Son, Getting Even With Dad, and Rihie Rih, reportedly netted him roughly $20 million to $25 million.

In a 2016 interview with Vulture, Culkin admitted that he is no longer in show business. The Home Alone star revealed, “I’m a man in his mid-30s who is essentially retired. I kind of go where the wind takes me a little bit.”

Culkin has launched Bunny Ears, a podcast he co-hosts with comic Matt Cohen. The show premiered in January of this year and has now accumulated 35 episodes. Culkin and Cohen talk about a range of issues each week, and they’ve invited special guests like comics artist and actor Dan Folger and Culkin’s girlfriend Brenda Song to join them.

He hasn’t completely abandoned acting; he still works on projects from time to time, and he recently completed Changeland, a film directed by his buddy Seth Green, who collaborated with the actor on his cartoon comedy Robot Chicken more than a decade ago. Brenda Song, Culkin’s girlfriend, appears in the new films and has been living with him in recent years, including in his Paris residence.

He even said that he and the former Disney child star intend to start a family. “This one’s a good one,” he said, “so I am probably going to put some babies in her like in a little bit.” They already have a shiba inu dog and a cat, which he describes as “adorable.”

Culkin added, “I’m able to kind of live the life that my circumstances afforded me. I’m very, very lucky. Lots of weird things happen to kids all the time, all around the world, every day. I have something to show for it. So it’s nice.”
