In her divorce settlement with Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes was given only $400,000 per year in child support payments.

According to TMZ, Holmes will not receive any spousal support as part of the agreement.

Suri’s care will cost $400,000 per year, or $33,333 per month. Cruise will also be responsible for medical expenditures, insurance, and schooling until she turns 18 years old.

Over the next 12 years, Cruise will pay nearly $4.8 million in child support.

Though the number appears large to most, TMZ describes it as “modest” and “nothing” in comparison to Cruise’s $250 million fortune.

According to court records obtained by E! News, the couple’s divorce case was finalized on Monday when a New York judge consented to the final judgment, ending their five-year marriage.

Suri will not attend a ‘residential (boarding) school,’ as all sides have agreed, putting an end to Katie’s fears that her daughter might be sent to a Scientology school.

Suri will be in Katie’s sole custody, although Cruise will have ‘meaningful’ visitation privileges.

In June, Holmes surprised Cruise by filing for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason.

The divorce papers apparently caught Cruise off guard, but an impenetrable prenuptial agreement allowed him to keep his vast Hollywood fortune.

Holmes might have taken Cruise to court to challenge their prenuptial agreement’s no-spousal-support clause, but both parties wanted to settle as soon as possible.

Cruise’s pal informed E! News that both parties are pleased. “Tom is very happy and relieved that he is moving forward,” the friend stated. “His priority is being a good father and this settlement will make sure that continues.”

Tom and Katie Cruise stated they are “committed to working together as parents” for the sake of their daughter Suri Cruise, who will allegedly remain in New York with Katie Holmes, in a joint statement made when their divorce was finalized.

Love turned sour

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were one of the most high-profile couples in Hollywood. Their relationship began in 2005, when they were introduced by Cruise’s publicist, and they were married in 2006. However, their marriage ended in 2012, and the couple divorced after six years together.

Holmes and Cruise met in April 2005, and they began dating shortly afterwards. They made their first public appearance as a couple at the 2005 Oscars, where Cruise was nominated for his role in the film Collateral.

Later that year, Cruise proposed to Holmes on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and the couple announced their engagement.

In November 2006, Holmes and Cruise were married in a lavish ceremony at a 15th-century castle in Italy. The wedding was attended by a number of high-profile guests, including Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Brooke Shields, and Jennifer Lopez.

After their wedding, Holmes and Cruise continued to be one of the most visible couples in Hollywood. They were often seen attending events and red carpet premiers together, and they were known for their affectionate displays of affection.

However, their marriage faced a number of challenges over the years.

One of the main issues in their marriage was Cruise’s involvement in the Church of Scientology. Holmes was raised a Catholic, and she struggled with Cruise’s commitment to the controversial religion.

In addition, there were reports of tension between Holmes and Cruise’s family members and members of the Church of Scientology.

In 2012, Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise. The divorce was finalized in August of that year, and the couple reached a settlement that included a confidentiality agreement. Since their divorce, Holmes and Cruise have remained largely out of the public eye, and they have not commented publicly on their relationship.
