Nicole Kidman suffered depression after Tom Cruise divorce

Nicole Kidman has acknowledged to being depressed following the breakdown of her marriage to Tom Cruise and her struggle to have children.

When she married the Mission Impossible actor, the Moulin Rouge star recognized that she was too young.

Kidman married Cruise when she was 23 years old in 1990, and the couple adopted two children together before their marriage fell apart and ended in divorce in 2001.

The actress, who is married to country singer Keith Urban, has now spoken up about her mental health status.

In an interview with Who magazine, she said: “I got married really fast and really young. But I don’t regret that because it got me [my children] Bella and Connor and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period.

“Then when it didn’t work out I had to really dig deep and find my way through depression. I have no regrets about all of it. It was all part of growing up.”

The actress said that her inability to conceive naturally contributed significantly to her sadness, and she was saddened by a series of miscarriages and unsuccessful IVF procedures before giving birth to her “miracle” baby.

“I had so much time thinking that wasn’t going to happen in my life and trying to understand that. When it did happen that was great. I had tried and failed and failed and failed. Not to be too detailed, but I’ve had an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages and I’ve had fertility treatments. I’ve done all the stuff you can possibly do to try get pregnant,” Kidman said.

Nicole opened up about her emotional suffering in the aftermath of their extremely public breakup.

“There were times following [the divorce] when I thought, ‘Wow, this is the loneliest, loneliest existence,'” she told Who.

“But with Tom, it was a fantastic decade. I wish all of the people that have been involved in my life well, because it’s very important to me to be in a place of forgiveness and love.”

The flame-haired beauty also shot down rumors that she advised Katie Holmes during her recent divorce from Tom Cruise. “I never spoke to her. I wish all of them well, but I was not involved in any of that.”

When speaking about her marriage to Keith Urban and their kids Faith, two, and Sunday Rose, four, she seemed more calm.

“I’m amazed that I have been a mother for so much of my life now. It’s odd, but because of them I don’t feel 45,” Nicole revealed.
