Mariah Carey, a mother of year-old twins, was so fearful of Nicki Minaj shooting her on the set of “American Idol” that she sought additional security, the “Dreamlover” singer said on Thursday.

The two came to blows while shooting in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday. They are both new recruits to the popular talent show’s judging panel.

According to a production source, Nicki, 29, stated, ‘If I had a gun, I would shoot her.’

This comes after leaked video from the Idol set earlier this week showed her clashing with Minaj. Minaj grumbled, “I’m not fucking putting up with Her Fucking Highness over there.”

“Why?!” Carey screamed and motioned for her to leave.

According to veteran TV host Barbara Walters, the feud grew even more intense.  The View host claimed she spoke with Carey on the phone and learned new facts about the feud. Carey said that she “doesn’t feel comfortable emotionally” with her “unpredictable” co-judge. Carey informed her that she “can’t take a chance” with her safety and that she is now employing more security.

The fight between the judges started, according to Carey, 42, after they differed on a contestant’s audition on Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C.

Carey informed Walters that other “Idol” personnel, including stylists and producers, heard the threat as well.

Walters said, “She said she’s very concerned. She is with her twins. She doesn’t feel that anything would happen, but Nicki is unpredictable, and Mariah says she can’t take a chance and she has hired extra security.”

‘The statement [that Nicki made a death threat] is absolute rubbish,’ American Idol president Nigel Lythgoe said today, dismissing the charges. ‘It’s absolutely not true in any way, shape or form.’

Minaj’s reps refused to confirm whether the interaction had taken place.

Minaj, on the other hand, stated in a tweet this afternoon, “Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she’s a black rapper. Lmao. I’ll then hit up Barbara n milk it.”

“Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho. Lol @ the struggle. Not even the producers believed u. Say no to violence,” she said.

She claimed that if the rapper did threaten to harm Carey, it was plainly a joke. She went on to say, “Lets just say [I] said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she’s a black rapper. Lmao.”

Carey went on to say that Minaj hasn’t apologized for the Tuesday incident, which stemmed from a disagreement between the two show judges about a contestant’s skill.

“I love you, but we might fight again,” Minaj said Carey, according to Walters.
