Mariah Carey, a well-known singer, is receiving psychiatric care after undergoing an emotional and physical breakdown.

Last week, Carey checked herself into a hospital, citing extreme exhaustion.

Her spokesperson has now confirmed that Carey suffered an emotional and physical breakdown, and she is under psychiatric care.

The spokesperson stated that Carey did not attempt suicide, as some tabloids have reported.

The spokesperson also denied rumors that Carey was involved in any self-harm.

However, just before her breakdown, Carey suffered cuts to her body, which were unintentional.

The spokesperson believes that the injuries occurred when Carey broke dishes and glasses and may have stepped on them.

Carey’s breakdown comes at an important point in her career.

She recently signed a multi-million dollar contract with Virgin Records after leaving Columbia Records, where she began her career.

She is set to make her acting debut in a movie called “Glitter,” where she plays the role of an aspiring pop star.

Carey also performed the songs for the movie’s soundtrack, which has the same name.

However, it is unlikely that Carey will be able to promote either project.

The spokesperson was unable to provide information on when Carey would be released from the hospital.

“I’m taking it one day at a time, but right now she is resting and improving,” the spokesperson said.

Before her hospitalization, Carey posted two messages on her official website, expressing her feelings of being overworked.

She expressed a desire to close her management company and take a break.

However, the spokesperson stated that nothing has changed, and Carey’s management remains the same.

Last month, Carey made an unexpected appearance on MTV’s “Total Request Live,” where she wore a lavender t-shirt and pushed an ice cream cart filled with popsicles for the teen audience.

She also made a publicity appearance at a mall on Long Island, where her publicist took away her microphone to prevent her from speaking.

Carey, who is divorced from Sony Music chief Tommy Mottola, had been dating Latin singer Luis Miguel.

The spokesperson confirmed that Miguel had not visited Carey in the hospital but had called her manager to express concern.

Furthermore, Carey and Miguel have not officially broken up.

Carey’s current single, “Loverboy,” had been struggling on the charts due to disappointing radio airplay.

However, once Virgin released a commercial single priced at 49 cents, sales propelled it to the No.

2 position on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
