Bieber made the announcement on twitter.
Those who saw the tweet were left scratching their heads in confusion.
“I want to challenge Tom Cruise to a fight in the octagon,” Bieber wrote.
“Tom, if you don’t accept this fight, you’re scared, and you’ll never live it down. Who’s willing to host the fight? @danawhite?”
Dana White is the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) organization.
As stated on the UFC website, MMA is “a full-contact combat sport allowing a wide range of fighting techniques and skills from various other combat sports to be utilized in competition.”
The reason behind 25-year-old Bieber’s desire to face off against the 56-year-old actor remains a mystery, and representatives for both celebrities have not provided any comment to CNN.
Nevertheless, the internet had a lot to say about the proposed showdown.
“I think he just watched Top Gun for the first time last night and believes Tom’s 26,” tweeted one individual.
Former UFC champion Conor McGregor was entirely on board.
“If Tom Cruise is brave enough to accept this challenge, McGregor Sports and Entertainment will host the fight,” McGregor posted.
