“Hunger Games” actress Jennifer Lawrence was only a 14-year-old kid from Louisville, Kentucky, on vacation with her mother in New York City before her face was plastered over every bus stop in America.

The story of how she was discovered is amusing.

The “Mockingjay – Part 2” actor shared a wealth of juicy details about what’s going on in her gorgeous mind, life, and soul during a one-on-one interview with Diane Sawyer for ABC News that was frank (even more so than typical for J.Law).

The Kentucky-born actress said that the scout approached her while she was strolling around Union Square with her mother.

She said, “My mom gave him her number because she didn’t know that was potentially dangerous and creepy, and then he called and said modeling agencies wanted to meet with me.”

“And I made up my mind in the cab ride, I was like, ‘well, I’m only going to sign with a modeling agency if they’ll let me act.’ Which came out of nowhere… I was already negotiating.”

She gave a similar account of how she was discpvered to the Daily News as well.

Lawrence, now 21 years old, told the Daily News, “It wasn’t creepy, he didn’t ask to take me anywhere, he just wanted to take a picture. And then all these agencies started calling and then we just kind of went (to do cold readings) out of boredom.”

“And then my poor mother, it was all I talked about, my obsession.”

Lawrence’s breakout performance, for which she received an Oscar nomination, came in the 2010 film Winter’s Bone.

Jennifer Lawrence passed the photo line with her brothers at the 2013 Independent Spirit Awards, but the on-site photographers insisted on a single portrait.

In an interview with ABC, she claimed, “When the paparazzi started yelling for them to get out of the picture .. I was like ‘those are my brothers!’”

Her career is poised to soar with the Friday premiere of “The Hunger Games.”

Her discovery is similar to finding the next Derek Jeter by watching how a prospect moves while wearing a baseball hat.

According to Scott Lipps, president of One Management, which represents a plethora of supermodels like Claudia Schiffer and Bar Rafaeli, “She obviously had some kind of ‘It’ factor that the scout recognized, and the fact she turned out to be an incredible actress on top of it was just luck.”

In New York City, where females wandering the streets who seem to be models are often already models for another agency, he compared Lawrence’s good fortune to winning the lottery for the scout.

“I think the scouts that have been doing this for years,”  Lipps stated — who also stars in the E! reality series, “Scouted!” — “they have that vision and they have that uncanny ability to see a girl with no makeup who’s working in a fast food restaurant and know that with the right haircut … or the right presence in front of a camera, she could potentially be a star.”

Lawrence lived in New York for five years, taking the train to acting and modeling gigs. She told the News that she misses those times.

“I was 14 when I went there. I loved it and I will always love New York,” remarked Lawrence. “Going back there and living there as a teenager, it was just a very surreal, kind of amazing experience for a Kentucky girl.”

Jennifer recently used her great platform to speak out against gender wage-gap in the hopes that it would encourage women to realize they “can ask for the same thing that men do.” And maybe one day the “fact that we do get judged more” will no longer exist.
