Charlie Sheen has issued a public apology for his actions last year.

After looking back, the actor said he didn’t “recognise parts” of himself.

The 46-year-old actor, who had drug and alcohol issues in 2011 before being fired from ‘Two and a Half Men’ after unleashing a series of outbursts at creator Chuck Lorre, has apologized to the American people for his conduct, comparing his wild behaviour to having an out-of-body experience.

Appearing on Good Morning America today, he said: ”I didn’t recognise parts of who that guy was. I just wish it was somebody else’s body. You say it’s been a year – it’s either been a day, or a hundred years.

”I guess the plan was to reintroduce myself to America and to the media and say, ‘Sorry about that, but here’s what’s happening now.”

Sheen will return to television in the upcoming FX series Anger Management, but he says he still needs to get over his departure from Two and a Half Men: “I gotta work through that. I could probably do it in a group on my show. Just not out loud.

“I couldn’t have the Two and a Half Men thing be my television legacy. I couldn’t have that end on that note. If this is going to be a swansong, then it’s got to be a beautiful experience, and, so far, eight days there was more fun than eight years.”

Charlie joked that it took a “team effort” for him to overcome his drug and alcohol addictions, but he said he didn’t have many pals during his dark period.

He said: “It was a team effort that was ultimately led by myself. There were not a lot of people close by saying, ‘Dude, let’s just take a step back.'”

Charlie also revealed that he was “a little bit” irritated by Ashton Kutcher’s replacing him on Two and a Half Men, but that he has moved on.

After being seen exiting a Guns N’ Roses concert inebriated, Charlie Sheen recently claimed that he had relapsed.
