Jared Leto, an Academy Award winner, has been cast in the title role of scientist Michael Morbius in Morbius. It is a Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters forthcoming superhero film. The film’s release has been delayed several times, as has the case with many other projects. The producers have now pushed it again.

Morbius, the Spider-Man-adjacent film, has been postponed for the sixth time, and will now be released on January 28, 2022, instead of January 21, 2022. There was no explanation given for the one-week delay.

“Morbius” was initially slated for July 31, 2020, but it is one of several films that have had to reschedule its cinema release dates.

Leto plays Dr. Michael Morbius, a doctor suffering from a rare blood illness who, in an attempt to heal himself, transforms into a vampire. Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Tyrese Gibson, and Jared Harris star in the picture, which is directed by Daniel Espinosa.

Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal, and Tyrese Gibson also star in Morbius. Michael Keaton appears in the film, potentially reprising his role as Adrian Toomes / Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, no formal confirmation of Keaton’s role has been released yet. Fans are waiting to learn if the film will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or stand alone.

When Jared Leto was cast as Michael Morbius in the upcoming Marvel film Morbius, he faced a number of difficulties. However, Leto said that he had a lot of fun portraying the character.

Leto told Variety that playing a Marvel character who hasn’t been seen on the big screen before gave him the opportunity to do things differently. “I haven’t done that very much in my life, so that was a good challenge,” Leto remarked. The actor went on to discuss Morbius’ dichotomy, stating that the character begins off weak but grows into a formidable figure. “I get to play these three different characters in a way in this Jekyll and Hyde story that’s just big and fun and sometimes a little scary, which, I think, is different for that genre. I’m excited about it; it should be a big, fun popcorn movie.”

“Morbius” will now be released on the same day as “The Addams Family 2,” a week after Warner Bros.’ “Dune,” and before Universal and Blumhouse’s “Halloween Kills.” Camilla Cabello’s “Cinderella,” which is set to be released next month in February, is also on Sony’s docket.

Michael Keaton, who played The Vulture in the film “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” is likely to feature in the film. He is expected to return to his evil character.

Michael Morbius first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 in 1971. The film will tell the genesis tale of the character and contain cameos by other Marvel characters such as Loxias Crown and Simon Stroud.

Morbius will be a part of Sony’s growing world of Spider-Man-related flicks, which includes 2018’s Venom and its impending sequel, Venom: There Will Be Carnage.
