It’s no secret that Chris Hemsworth is currently a huge celebrity. Along with Pratt and Pine, he’s one of Hollywood’s most renowned Chrises. For his extended run as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hemsworth became a household name. He’s portrayed the God of Thunder in nine blockbusters, and Taika Waititi’s role as director of Thor 4 almost ensures his return. But there was a point when the Australian actor’s career was in jeopardy.

Hemsworth’s most well-known performance outside of the MCU was as Captain Kirk’s tragic father in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek remake. The character’s death weighs heavily on Kirk throughout the reboot trilogy, despite the fact that he had a little role. In the Blu-ray commentary for the film, the director even forgets Hemsworth’s name, implying that he was only cast because of his resemblance to Chris Pine.

Hemsworth said in a recent interview with Heat that his career froze following his brief stint in Star Trek, and he felt like he was failing his aspirations.

He said: “I got a job pretty quick when I got to Hollywood, so I was very fortunate in that sense. Then I didn’t work for a while and I started to think it might not work out.”

Breaking into the acting world is notoriously difficult. It might be much more difficult to maintain and continue climbing higher with bigger and better components once the initial break occurs.

Despite his part in a massive series, he struggled to find work after Star Trek. Hemsworth subsequently admitted to Heat that he was anxious throughout the procedure.

“I had a huge amount of anxiety when I was auditioning, and that just got worse and worse the more I heard the word ‘no,'” he said.

“I did a lot of soul searching on a number of occasions, where I asked myself: ‘Why am I doing this? What’s my motivation to put myself through this?’”

Self-doubt can plague anybody, even someone as talented as Chris Hemsworth. In his several MCU appearances, as well as his role in Bad Times at the El Royale, he delivered energetic performances.

Chris Hemsworth has been booked in a range of films outside of the superhero genre since his debut as Thor. In fact, he just faced off against himself when Men In Black International appeared in theaters during the run of Avengers: Endgame.

Following the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, the actor revealed that he will be taking a hiatus from acting in order to spend more time with his wife, Spanish actress and model Elsa Pataky, and their three children.

He recently declined the opportunity to reprise his Star Trek role.
