Billy Ray Cyrus claims that the Disney TV program “Hannah Montana” wrecked his family, resulting in his divorce and sending his daughter Miley Cyrus off the rails.

After a slew of controversies, including a notorious video last year showing Miley getting high on the psychedelic herb salvia, country musician Billy Ray Cyrus expressed his concern for the 18-year-old Miley.

Cyrus expressed regret over the concert that catapulted his daughter into mainstream fame.

‘I hate to say it, but yes, I do,’ he told GQ magazine. ‘Yeah. I’d take it back in a second.’

‘For my family to be here and just be everybody OK, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I’d erase it all in a second if I could.’

On “Hannah Montana,” a pleasant Disney Channel program about a typical adolescent by day but a singing star by night, Cyrus, 49, played father to his daughter, launching Miley Cyrus as a teen idol and top-selling recording artist.

Billy Ray Cyrus claims he was informed it was none of his concern when he inquired about rumored video evidence of his daughter smoking from a bong at her 18th birthday party in December. He declined to attend the party, claiming that having it in a bar was inappropriate.

In the weeks after the bong video went public, Billy Ray did not talk to her, but he made sure she knew he was rooting for her through text. “You know what, there’s no doubt I did stuff when I was a teenager that I’m sure could have turned out horribly,” he said. “I’ve done some stupid crap — I do stupid crap. We all do. But it’s different when you sit back and you see it happening to your little girl. I feel like I got to try. It’s my daughter. And some of these handlers are perhaps more interested in handling Miley’s money than her safety and her career.”

‘I should have said, “Enough is enough – it’s getting dangerous, and somebody’s going to get hurt,”‘ the country singer added, adding that he should have tried harder to be a parent to his popstar daughter rather than a friend. ‘I should have, but I didn’t. Honestly, I didn’t know the ball was out of bounds until it was way up in the stands somewhere.’

Her father compares her current path to that of celebrities like Kurt Cobain, Anna Nicole Smith, and Michael Jackson, whose lives ended tragically.

Cyrus remarked of Miley, “I’m scared for her. She’s got a lot of people around her that’s putting her in a great deal of danger. I know she’s 18 but I still feel like, as her daddy, I’d like to try to help. Take care of her just a little bit, to at least get her out of danger.

“I want to get her sheltered from the storm. Stop the insanity for a minute. When you go through what she’s been through, it takes a beating on you,” he added.

In October, Cyrus and his wife, Tish, filed for divorce. They have three children together, the eldest of whom is Miley, as well as two children from Tish’s previous marriage.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus, 18, is said to have decided she wants to be a Bond Girl as part of her “growing up” process.
