Daniel Craig has stated that he will not leave a single penny of his $125 million fortune (£108 million) to his children when he passes away because he finds inheritance “distasteful.”

“My philosophy is to get rid of it or give it away before you go,” said the actor, whose final James Bond film was been delayed due to the coronavirus.

“I don’t want to leave great sums to the next generation,” he told Saga Magazine in a new interview.

Craig, 52, is the father of two children, one of whom he had in 2018 with his wife Rachel Weisz.

Ella, his other daughter from a former marriage to Fiona Loudon, is his other child.

Craig also outlined his inheritance philosophy in  Candis Magazine, claiming he doesn’t expect to have much money left to pass to his children by the time he dies.

According to the Times of London, Craig remarked in the interview. “Isn’t there an old adage that if you die a rich person, you’ve failed? I think Andrew Carnegie gave away what in today’s money would be about $11 billion, which shows how rich he was because I’ll bet he kept some of it, too.”

Background

Daniel Craig is a wealthy English actor with a fortune of $160 million. He has a long and illustrious cinematic career, but he is most recognized for his portrayal of James Bond in various spy thrillers. Daniel owes a large portion of his current wealth to the James Bond film franchise.

Daniel Wroughton Craig was born in Chester, England, on March 2, 1968. Craig grew up in the Liverpool area, and he and his mother and sisters used to enjoy attending to the theater. He was drawn to the industry because many of his mother’s acquaintances were actors. Craig told Interview magazine, “I kind of fell in love with the idea of acting… I liked the idea of it—you know, shouting a lot and dressing up and all that.”

Craig relocated to London at the age of 16 to join the National Youth Theatre and went on to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to further his education.

From there, he debuted in the film The Power of One (1992). His film career continued on television, with the BBC2 serial Our Friends in the North being one of the highlights (1996). After supporting appearances in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Road to Perdition (2001), he shot to international renown (2002).

While Daniel Craig’s performance in the James Bond franchise will undoubtedly be teh most recognized, we’d be negligent if we didn’t include some of the other Daniel Craig productions in which he shone, indicating that his acting talents are on par with the greatest in Hollywood today.

The list includes The Invasion (2007), The Golden Compass (2007), Flashbacks of a Fool (2008) with Emilia Fox, the war film Defiance (2008), Cowboys and Aliens (2011) with Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde, Kings (2017) with Halle Berry, and Knives Out (2019), a film for which Craig received a lucrative multi-sequel deal worth millions.

The idea that you wouldn’t leave enough for your children to survive without having to work 9-5, that is distasteful. I mean you went and had the darn kids the least you could do is spoil them.
