Fasten your seatbelts, for the end of the road is near.

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the penultimate installment in the long-running cars-to-spies saga will be released on April 7, 2023.

Justin Lin will helm the picture in the “Fast and Furious” franchise. It was supposed to be out on April 2 this year, but owing to delays caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, that slot was taken by “F9,” and the release date was moved back to June 25.

The Fast & Furious franchise has developed from a one-off, gritty action film about an LAPD officer going undercover with a gang of street car racers to a big spectacle built on very high-budget action sequences, outrageous stunts, and worldwide heists. In the most recent installment, F9, vehicles were even sent into space, proving to be one of the franchise’s most ridiculous (and fan-favorite) events. Diesel, Rodriguez, and Walker have all had important parts in the series, with Dwayne Johnson, Charlize Theron, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Helen Mirren, and Gal Gadot all appearing. The original Fast & Furious franchise, however, will come to an end after more than 20 years.

Fast 10 and 11 might be filmed back-to-back to wind out the billion-dollar franchise, according to star Vin Diesel, who previously confirmed to EW that production will begin in January 2022.

The Fast and Furious franchise, which began in 2001, has grossed $6.3 billion worldwide, including the 2019 spinoff Hobbs & Shaw.

The film “F9,” which was released in June and grossed over $170 million in the United States and over $500 million worldwide, helping to keep the box office alive throughout the COVID-19 epidemic. “With a story that looks back more than forward and a space sequence that comes close to jumping the shark, the fifth entry in the series directed by Justin Lin gets stuck in franchise overdrive,” Variety‘s Owen Gleiberman said. However, the “Fast and Furious” franchise continues to be a fan favorite, with the picture receiving a CinemaScore average of B+.

Fast 10 is set to bring back major characters like as Dominic Toretto (Diesel), Letty Ortiz (Rodriguez), and Han Lue (Kang). However, US agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) will not be seen, since Johnson has previously stated that he will not be appearing in any of the future flicks.

“I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me,” he stated.
