Scarlett Johansson is the highest-paid actress in Hollywood for the second year in a row.

Forbes magazine created this ranking by totaling the actresses’ earnings between June 1, 2018 and June 1, 2019.

Johansson’s reported $56 million in earnings was boosted by her compensation for “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame.” According to Forbes, her work in the Marvel films earns her a “eight figure check” as well as lucrative profit points – especially profitable given that “Endgame” is now the highest-grossing film of all time. Along with an eight-figure payday for her forthcoming Black Widow spin-off flick.

Scarlett Johansson has topped Forbes’ list of the highest-paid actresses for the second year in a row, although she is only the eighth highest-paid performer overall.

The 34-year-earnings old’s of $56 million (£45.7 million) put her behind seventh-placed male actor Adam Sandler.

According to Forbes, “Modern Family” actress Sofia Vergara came in second, earning $44 million over the same time period. She earned money not just through her job on the long-running ABC sitcom, but also from her trademark products, which ranged from jeans to home furnishings.

While she rose to fame as an actress in films such as “Cruel Intentions” and “Legally Blonde,” Reese Witherspoon is now a successful producer. Her $35 million salary was obtained in part by producing the Emmy-winning HBO hit “Big Little Lies” and the forthcoming Natalie Portman feature “Lucy in the Sky,” among other projects, between June and June 2018/19. She is ranked third.

Nicole Kidman, Witherspoon’s “Big Little Lies” co-star, is just underneath her. Fourth-placed Kidman is always working on big and small screens; in 2018, she played Aquaman’s mother in the eponymous blockbuster about the DC Comics hero, and she will soon be seen in the Fox News-set film “Bombshell” and the drama “The Goldfinch.”

Jennifer Aniston, a former “Friends” star, rounds out the top five. Back in the day, she was paid $1 million each episode of “Friends” for her role as Rachel Greene, which continues to pay off due to syndication and streaming agreements. She, like Witherspoon, has moved to producing. Aniston is starring in and executive producing her new Apple TV+ series “The Morning Show.”

According to the latest annual rankings from financial experts, Dwayne Johnson is the highest-paid actor of the past 12 months, earning $89.4 million (£73.6 million).

Notably, all of the top ten actresses earned more than $20 million (£16.3) this year, compared to just the top two – Johansson and Angelina Jolie – last year.
