After an interview he had with Lindsay Lohan in 2013 was recently unearthed, depicting him making fun of her for going to rehab, David Letterman has received a lot of flak.

Lindsay, then 27, appeared on the Late Show on September 4, 2013, to promote Scary Movie 5 — but within minutes of sitting down next to the host, she was bombarded with invasive and at times mocking questions about her personal struggles, including a recent stay at an alcohol and drug treatment facility.

Letterman, on the other hand, appeared to catch her off guard when he began asking her questions about rehab, which Lohan said wasn’t part of the “pre-interview” in which a staffer walks the guest through a list of topics they’re likely to be asked.

‘Aren’t you supposed to be in rehab now?’ the host asks at the opening of the clip.

Lindsay, who looked irritated, said, “Do you not watch anything that goes on? What are you a tabloid now?”

Despite Lindsay’s unwillingness to talk about it, David persisted in asking her questions like “How long will you be in rehab?” “How many times have you been in rehab?” “How will this time be different?” He continued pressing, “What are they rehabbing first of all? What is on their list? What are they going to work on when you walk through the door?” while his queries seemed to entertain the audience.

Lohan responded by saying “we didn’t discuss this in pre-interview, just saying” before telling Letterman: “I’m the happiest when I’m working. This is an opportunity for me to focus on what I love in life. I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I think it’s a blessing.”

David continues to interrogate her about rehab and her lifestyle, despite her attempts to persuade him to move on with his interrogation.

“Is it alcohol? Do you drink too much?” he asked. When Letterman tried to bring up rehab again, Lohan attempted to pivot back to “Scary Movie 5.”

Lindsay informs him at one point that they’ve talked about it before.

“Really? When did we? Now I’m the one having blackouts. I ought to be in rehab, for the love of God,” he said.

“We’re here for a movie, let’s stay on the positive,” she responded.

He then pulls out a piece of paper with a list of additional questions Lohan “has endured” which she grabs from his grasp.

“You can’t make a joke of it. That’s so mean,” Lohan hits back. “No. No, we’re not doing that. This is my show now.”

“This Lindsay Lohan interview on David Letterman in 2013 is horrifying to watch now,” the caption said on Twitter.

Fans chastised Letterman for his “disgusting” treatment of Lohan when the video went viral, with one person claiming that the interview was “vile on so many levels.”

“The misogyny. The blindsiding. The stigma of addiction & rehab. The hypocrisy of wanting people to recover, but then judging how they choose do so,” they continued. “I hope Lindsay Lohan knows how loved she is. The world has treated her and many others so unfairly.”

‘The whole interview is disgustingly unprofessional and rude,’ added another.

A third concurred: “Cruel and ignorant. Until people understand addiction is a disease there is no hope. My God.”

On YouTube, one viewer remarked, “She was very poised, sweet and classy here. I really felt sorry for her.”

“I really admire her composure but this is just so gross,” one person commented.

“This makes me have so much respect for Lindsay Lohan and absolutely none for Letterman,” another wrote.

Another lashed out against the presenter and the crowd for laughing at his jokes “David letterman was so DISGUSTING to Lindsay Lohan here! And everyone laughing at her for going to rehab. Nuts to see an adult make fun of a drug addict trying to get help. So happy Culture Loves #AA now & rehab. Everythings changed. It was so bad then.” Someone else said something similar, “Ugh this makes me so sad. Shame on David Letterman and shame on his show for the claps and laughs throughout the interview.”
