WandaVision has managed to maintain its element of surprise, and it appears that fans may credit Marvel’s tight restriction on what the actors can and cannot say for this.

Kat Dennings talked out about acting in WandaVision and acknowledged she had to keep her involvement in the Disney+ series a secret while appearing virtually on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday.

Dennings said Marvel provided her a list of things she “can`t say” about WandaVision. During the conversation, Ellen DeGeneres told Dennings that her DJ, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, is a huge fan of the show. “I love it,” he said to the actress, who in WandaVision reprises her role as Darcy Lewis from the first two Thor flicks. “It’s taking everything in me not to just ask you 1,000 questions about everything that’s going on. I know you can’t really say anything, but I love it.”

“You know, [Marvel] send us a list of what we can’t say, instead of what we can say,” Kat said, showing the extent to which Marvel will go to avoid spoilers.

Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) have been depicted living in different decades of sitcom-based realities in each episode of WandaVision, starting in the 1950s and progressing – so far – all the way through the 1990s/early 2000s.

Olsen, 31, previously told PEOPLE about the limited series, which debuted on Disney+ last month, “It sounds so gimmicky, but it is actually part of the storytelling. Why it happens is answered within the show.”

Dennings also talked with Entertainment Weekly earlier this month about her involvement on the Disney+ television series, calling it a “amazing” opportunity to return to the Marvel universe. Detailing that getting the call to return “was very unexpected,” Dennings said, “I was delighted to be asked.”

“I am just a big fan of Marvel in general. I had no expectations of ever coming back, so I was just thrilled,” she said. Dennings also stated that she was “extremely surprised” to discover that she would be reprising her former role, “only because Darcy had had no interaction as a character with anyone in the world WandaVision at all,” and that was the last show I excepted to be a part of.`”

“But when I saw what they did with it, it`s kind of an ingenious move for them,” she continued.

Speaking about one major surprise which took place in episode five, Kat told Jimmy Kimmel Live: ‘Obviously, that was a massive surprise. I mean they kept it from me a little bit as well. I wasn’t sure what was going on.’

Kat continued: “While we were shooting, they cloaked him in [this] thing, so no one could take a drone shot of him getting out of a van, or whatever it was. It was a big secret. They pulled it off, everyone was shocked.”
